Reiki and the Planetary Shift in Consciousness
by William Lee Rand

We will soon be moving into the more meaningful part of the twenty-first century. During these first few years of this century we have been living for the most part according to the values, beliefs and mind set of the previous century and in fact we haven’t yet entered into the era for which the twenty-first century will be known.

The next 15-20 years will be a transition period which will include major changes profoundly affecting every country, every segment of society and every individual on the planet. These changes, taking place on multiple levels and representing a major shift will be the most important event that has ever happened on our planet.

This may seem like a bold statement to some, but the full import of societal change isn’t often recognized by a changing society before or even during the transition, but only years after it has taken place. This is especially true for those who fear change and cling to the past. But for those forward thinking individuals, who are not bound by consensus reality, the conscious awareness of this dawning period of history has already begun to form.

During this time of change we will be moving from a consumer society in which dependence on limited resources will shift to a sustainable society in which we’ll make greater use of renewable, non-polluting resources such as wind, solar and bio-fuels. New more appropriate sources of energy will be discovered and developed along with more efficient methods of storing energy. We’ll also be using energy more efficiently, recycling more and creating more products that are bio-degradable.

The human population will stop growing and we’ll focus more attention on making sure everyone on the planet has adequate food, shelter, education, health care and a feeling of purpose.

With a stable population that is properly fed, educated and healthy and making use of sustainable sources of energy, the motivation for war between countries and factions will be greatly reduced and could even be eliminated completely. Continued advancements in technology will enable us to effectively deal with any challenge that might arise. The world will change from a mind set in which the future of human life is a worrisome and questionable proposition to one in which our continued existence for untold centuries is assured.

Living in a world such as this, free of strife and connected with everyone on the planet in a kind and compassionate way will have a profound effect on everyone’s values, beliefs, and philosophy. Our focus will be redirected making possible a much deeper understanding of the nature of life, of our potentials and what it means to be a human being. The evolution of human consciousness will accelerate and we’ll enter a period that is such a great improvement over what we currently experience that it’s not possible to fully comprehend.

This of course is a very desirable future, but to get there, we must successfully navigate the transition period – the next 15-20 years. During the transition, the old system will be upset, begin breaking down and become unusable at the same time that new methods will come into use. This creates the possibility of strife and suffering as people cling to the old ways and lack the foresight and compassion to create a smoother transition. We are already seeing this as the cost of food, gasoline, clothing and all of our basic necessities are going up all over the world. Upheavals in financial markets followed by massive fixes are adding to economic uncertainty. This is forcing people to change priorities and focus more on basic necessities. Changing conditions such as this will most likely be a part of life until the world completes the transition period.

Reiki is a healing method that can help people cope with uncertainty and anxiety. It can also help people make healthy change and deal with issues that arise during the transition. In fact, Reiki energy contains the consciousness of the coming new era and not only is it’s use helping to create the planetary shift in consciousness, but it is also able to help minimize the suffering people might experience as we move through the transition. This is one important reason that Reiki is becoming more popular now – to smooth out the transition period and reduce suffering so we can more easily and quickly enter into the coming period of peace and well-being.

Here are some ways to use Reiki to help facilitate the planetary shift in consciousness.

  1. Make sure to give yourself Reiki every day. A complete session is recommended if you have the time, but shorter periods are also effective. Giving yourself several 5 minute sessions a day will work wonders to release stress, lift your spirits, improve creativity and help you manifest the best results. As you heal and improve your own level of consciousness, your presence in the lives of others will help them as well.
  2. Use Reiki to achieve your goals. Each morning write the priorities of the day on a piece of paper and give them Reiki. Then Reiki your goals at least one additional time during the day. Do this with your long range goals as well. You’ll be happily surprised as amazingly helpful coincidences take place to help you achieve your goals.
  3. Offer Reiki to family members, friends and co-workers. This will reduce their stress and help create a positive supportive atmosphere. Make sure you get Reiki sessions from others too.
  4. Send Reiki to local, regional and world crisis situations and to the world in general. This will raise the vibration of those events making solutions more easily achieved and helping to smooth the transition to world peace.
  5. Use the World Peace Crystal Grid photos to charge the grids at the North and South Poles and in Jerusalem with Reiki. This is a powerful way to promote world peace and planetary healing. Doing this will bring peace into your personal world as well.
  6. Teach Reiki to others. This can be done through informal classes for family and friends or through professionally organized classes for the general public.
  7. Encourage others to use their Reiki on a regular basis. Set up a Reiki share group or attend one that’s already operating and invite very one you know to attend.

This is an exciting time to be alive. Values are changing and the opportunity for personal and planetary evolution is greater than ever. Reiki is a gift that has been given to us to help create the positive changes we need. As you use Reiki to help the world, may your life be blessed by the planetary transformation you help create.

Teaching Reiki Effectively
by Dawn Fleming

As a Reiki Master Teacher, it is a great honor for me to teach Reiki and to pass on attunements to others. It is the best career I could have ever chosen—or that chose me. I have been teaching all levels of Usui and Karuna Reiki ® for over 13 years and have been working with various energy modalities since 1989. My goal as a teacher is to help students become competent and confident Reiki healers and to nurture and guide them so that they may fully develop their capacity to work with energy.

Having participated in many holistic health classes, I am aware that there are numerous approaches to teaching energy-related classes. I have observed classes and teaching styles that are excellent and those that are less effective. Students who gain only a limited understanding of Reiki due to poor teaching are not as likely to practice or return for future classes. I share here some of the insights I have gained through years of teaching, and I offer key points to consider in the development of Reiki classes that will effectively support the Reiki student’s professional growth.

Class Duration
What is the right amount of time for a class? When I am reading the listings for Reiki I classes in the local New Age magazines I see that some of the classes are only four hours long while others are two full days. Remember that most of those attending a Reiki I class are at the beginning of their Reiki journey. It is very important that enough time be allotted for this training. Developing students is not just about giving the Reiki history, principles, hand placements and attunements in a quick way. It is about laying a foundation of knowledge that students will build on. Many students who enter a Reiki I class have never had any exposure or experience with energy. This makes it necessary for the Reiki teacher to set learning objectives that transform the esoteric concepts into concrete information that can be defined and experienced.

It is important to provide a basic understanding of the auric field, chakras, the flow of energy in and out of the body, and how our emotions and life choices impact our health and well-being. The teacher must provide the context for understanding how important a balanced energy field is to one’s overall health and well-being. The teacher’s role is to connect the dots for the students so they understand the mind, body, and energy relationship.

Adequate time is needed for teaching all levels of Reiki. Students need the time to take in, experience the concepts being taught, make them their own, and to be able to practice the techniques on themselves and others. Not only do they need to hear what you say, but also they need to feel what you are teaching.

The teacher must include time for experiential activities to make it real for the students. I have had engineers and computer types in my classes. They come to class very skeptical about this “woo woo” stuff. When they feel the energy move through their hands for the first time, the “woo woo” fades and the knowing that energy can flow through them becomes real. When they feel the heat or the release of energy the first time that they receive Reiki, it validates that something is moving within them.

Allow plenty of time for teaching all aspects of the information and for students to practice what they have learned. Usually one full day is enough time to teach all of the information, give attunements, and to give the students time to practice. Two-day Reiki I classes provide additional time for the students to practice and to get more experience at sensing energy that is around different people. Classes that are less than one day long usually lack enough time for really connecting with students and developing their abilities. The amount of time needed is also a function of the teacher’s ability to teach in a well-organized way that makes effective use of time. An experienced teacher with good teaching skills can teach in one day what a less experienced teacher might need two days to cover.

Practicum
The teacher should factor into a Reiki class enough time for students to give and receive a session. When the students have the opportunity to give Reiki, it builds their confidence and they are more likely to practice on others when they leave the class. If they have not had time to practice during class, they might leave timid and unsure about how to perform a Reiki session and not bother to practice what was demonstrated. During the time allotted for practice, I encourage students to share with their partners what they experienced as the receiver and what the person giving Reiki experienced. The feedback is invaluable. It builds confidence and breaks up the I must have been imaging it thoughts that new practitioners sometimes have when giving Reiki. The practice and feedback give the Reiki neophyte some level of experience. When the student develops confidence, he or she is more likely to come back for additional training.

During the practicum sessions, I walk around and make sure that the students have started the sessions and that they are moving at a reasonable pace (not too fast or too slow). I try to keep all of the pairs moving along so that they end at about the same time. I am there to answer questions and to encourage them when they are feeling doubtful.

Providing practice opportunities outside the classroom environment is another way that the Reiki teacher can support students. Hosting a monthly or twice-a-month Reiki share gives students a valuable opportunity to practice and receive feedback from the instructor and other practitioners. Some Reiki students do not have a lot of family or friends that are open to receiving Reiki. By hosting a Reiki share, the teacher has an opportunity to give students additional experience that will help prepare them for the next level of Reiki training.

Handouts
Another way to get your message across is to provide professional-looking handouts with clear instructions. They serve as guidance and reference for your students when you are not there, and they impact students long after class is over. Make sure that you have someone read over your handouts before you give them to students. They reflect on your teaching and give you an opportunity to make a good impression. If you are not a strong writer, there are manuals you can purchase that are written very well. Check into these and invest in one that follows your philosophy and methodology. It will be worth the investment, and your students will appreciate it. Make sure that you add anything that is missing along with a copy of your Reiki lineage and your contact information. I recommend the manual offered by the ICRT: Reiki, The Healing Touch. It is professionally written and researched and is used by thousands of Reiki Masters.

Sharing Examples and Experiences
Interweave examples into your teaching. Use examples to show the benefits of giving and receiving Reiki. Another way to use examples in teaching is to provide examples of how Reiki can be used in the various professions. If I know that I have nurses attending my class, I will discuss how nurses can incorporate Reiki into their conventional practice. I do the same when I teach massage therapists, acupuncturists or social workers. Students relate to concrete examples. They make Reiki relevant and add validity to what you are teaching.

Sharing stories of how Reiki has worked for you or your clients (leaving out names for privacy) is a great way to help your students understand how Reiki can assist the healing process. Most Reiki teachers have a lot of stories. Share only the ones that are relevant. Do not take up valuable classroom time telling story after story. I know for myself as a student that teachers who overdo the story telling can come across as egotistical time wasters. Find a balance in what you share regarding stories and interweave the stories appropriately. Many students will relate to the stories, examples, and sharing, and will be encouraged to think of similar situations in which they can use Reiki.

This is an excerpt from the complete article that appears in the Fall edition of the Reiki News Magazine.

Soul-Level Chakras and the Peace Breath
by Laurelle Shanti Gaia

Increasing numbers of people are incorporating Reiki or other energies into their healing practices, their work, and their everyday life. Because of this, the vibrational frequency of each individual and of the planet is increasing. This can be seen as an evolutionary process for the human species as well as for the earth. As this happens, our subtle bodies and chakras are awakening on deeper levels, which helps us each access our personal soul blueprint with greater ease. This process guides us in the unfolding of our soul’s progression and the ultimate expression of our Divine purpose.

In a time when the media is reporting so many things from around the world which can be perceived as atrocities, I feel it is increasingly important for each of us to focus daily on our personal evolution and remember our purpose as well as our Divine creative power. We each have a powerful effect on the reality that we live in. As we evolve we are becoming more aware of our expansive and limitless nature.

Our bodies are gradually and continually integrating higher-frequency light rays, and as this happens our soul-level chakras are awakening. This is a necessary process as we are recognizing that we each truly are powerful Divine beings, created not simply in the image of God but also blessed with gifts of the creative power of Divine Love and Divine Mind.

With these gifts come the opportunity, and perhaps the responsibility, to use them for the highest good of all. However, our free will allows us to decide how we will use them, and this can have a direct effect on our karma as well as on the quality of our life.

The information offered in this article comes from my personal experience of overtwenty years during which I have explored, studied, meditated, and worked with others in my healing practice to develop my understanding of the soul chakras, which has always been focused on results.

I feel it is important to be open to new and awakening ideas. Many old concepts and beliefs are likely to expand and change as we learn more through scientific findings while simultaneously remaining open to our personal truth and soul knowing.

Soul-Level Chakras and the Master Cell
Soul-level chakras each are directly linked to our master cell. The master cell houses our soul blueprint, or personal Akashic record, and is a way in which we are personally connected energetically to the soul of humanity and ultimately the One Soul of creation. It is the master cell that communicates with all of our chakras and every level of our etheric field.

One of the biggest challenges that Reiki practitioners and all light workers have is the actual grounding of our high-frequency light experiences. Often when giving Reiki or meditating or receiving healing, we may find ourselves out of body or traveling deep within to that place of inner mastery. At other times, there can be a fascination with the experiences we have in our upper chakras to the extent that we may ignore the lower centers, which is unfortunate as they are an important part of our developmental process. Regardless of where we find ourselves when we are in an expanded state of awareness, we often enjoy the experience so much that we resist coming back. This can sometimes prevent us from applying our experience in a practical way.

The development of the soul-level chakras, which connect to our master cell, is an important step in the complete awakening of our soul blueprint. It is through such development and awakening that our ability to ground high-frequency light is enhanced. Each soul chakra functions as a portal which links us with a specific aspect of the progression of our soul. This is similar to the way each of our basic chakras serves as a link to our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies.

The soul level of our root chakra (located at the base of our spine) is where we store all of our belief systems and link with the planetary consciousness through these beliefs. If we are to be fully open to changing outmoded belief patterns from simple beliefs to a healthy soul knowing of our truth, it is important to integrate and anchor what we are learning and remembering.

Location and Functions of the Soul-Level Chakras
As we begin to explore the soul-level chakras, let’s first establish their location. In this article I refer to only those that I am most familiar with at this time. An awareness of others is currently unfolding. The chakras discussed here are:

Stellar gateway. To locate this chakra, stretch your arms up above your head. Imagine a funnel of light with the lower opening just above your fingertips. This is the base of the stellar gateway.

Soul star. Place the heel of your hand at the top of your head with the fingers pointing upward. The bottom of the soul star would be touching your fingertips.

Causal chakra. Place the heel of your hand at the center of the crown of your head with the fingers resting on the curvature of your head, pointing toward your back. The area where your fingers rest is the area where the center of the causal chakra is located.

Ascending heart. In the center of the body between the physical heart and throat, behind the thymus gland.

Sacred heart. In the center of the body, slightly behind and slightly below the physical heart. This sometimes is perceived as an etheric chamber attached to the heart.

Earthstar. Approximately a hand-length below the physical body. If you placed your hand down into the earth pointing toward the center of the earth, with the heel of the hand just penetrating the surface, the earthstar would begin at your fingertips. It is centered beneath you, and in direct center alignment with the soul star.

The Gaia gateway. Located about an arm’s length beneath you, opening into the earth like a funnel.

The stellar gateway and soul star chakras are portals through which very high-frequency light can enter our etheric field. It is this light from the One Soul that helps us to awaken our individual soul wisdom. The stellar gateway is like a spiritual barometer that measures the intensity of light our field can hold. The soul star is the filter through which frequencies entering through the stellar gateway are measured. The soul star also facilitates access to our personal library within the Akashic records. The Akashic records is an important spiritual library that can assist in the process of our soul’s progression. It is believed that a record of all lifetimes, thoughts, actions, and energy in any form are archived there. Spiritualists and theosophists explain that Akasha can be defined as “astral light.” In Eastern philosophies Akasha is defined as ether that contains material and spiritual energy.

In Chaldean the sounds contained within akasha, ka and ha, can be translated to mean two pools of information, one in form and one invisible. The Chaldean civilization was situated near what we know today as the Persian Gulf, and was recognized for its knowledge of science, astrology, and occult wisdom.

It is my personal sense that the two pools of information mentioned above refer to information stored within both our physical body and our soul-level chakras. More specifically, information stored within the etheric heart, which we will explore in a moment, and our physical heart. Studies are being conducted with transplant patients regarding the physical heart’s ability to record memory and feelings. As we explore the etheric heart’s ability to maintain records that transcend time and space, we are learning more about methods through which one can develop a deeper understanding of their soul purpose.

The causal chakra is the center that accepts the dosages of light that the upper two chakras deliver, and it assists in higher activations of the crown, brow, and throat chakras.

The ascending heart and sacred heart chakras house the essence of Universal Compassion and Universal Love. They create a triad via an etheric link with the heart chakra.

A holographic projection of the link between these three centers is held in the subtle energy field. This hologram is known as the etheric heart. Its purpose is to facilitate communication via the language of light between our personality, our soul, the Universal Heart, and the Universal Mind. A wonderful blending of energies takes place within the etheric heart, the blending of true Divine Love and Compassion with the energy from the lower centers and especially the base chakra.

Let’s think about that. If the base chakra is where we store our fundamental beliefs, and the etheric heart blends these ever-changing beliefs with Universal Love and Compassion, what are we creating? When love and compassion blend, a frequency is formed that energizes the peace ray. When this energy is introduced to our lower centers, our fundamental beliefs begin to awaken to a profound knowing that we can and we are creating peace within our own being, and ultimately the world.

Now let’s take this a few steps further and look at the earthstar chakra and the Gaia gateway. The earthstar is where we anchor our belief system, or our soul knowing, into our daily life. The energy residing in the earthstar is that of personal self-expression. We express ourselves in many ways, through our actions, our words, our thoughts, and the energy we hold. As we consciously seek to open more to the true expression of our soul, the earthstar supports the unfolding of our Divine purpose.

The Gaia gateway is the portal through which we transmit either our limited beliefs or our true soul knowing and remembrance of our purpose into the very core, or heart, of the earth. The core of the earth is a like a great mirror; it reflects back to us what we are anchoring within her.

What are you reflecting to the earth? Are you reflecting fear and limited beliefs, or are you reflecting perfect peace from the center of your soul?

In A Return to Love, Marianne Williamson wrote:

“We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in ALL of us. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

When we are liberated from our own fear, and we anchor the peace that we were born to be, we reflect this to others and we also assist in the liberation of the earth.

There are many ways to awaken the soul-level chakras. The following is one way to work with Reiki and breath to facilitate the awakening of soul light.

This technique is designed for those who are familiar with the Usui power symbol; however, if you are a Reiki I practitioner and do not yet know this symbol, you can still use this technique. In that case perceive a pulsing ball of Reiki energy in the place of the power symbol references. I use the term visualize in these instructions, but if you don’t believe you can visualize, you can imagine, think about, or feel instead of see.

  1. Create a prayer of intention to clear, align, and more fully awaken your soul-level chakras. An example of a prayer might be: “Creator, I give thanks that I am a clear and open channel for Reiki energy to flow through. I give thanks that my personality and ego stand aside so that the energy and wisdom is received in its clearest and truest form. It is my intention to clear, align, and awaken my soul-level chakras so that I might develop a deeper understanding of my Divine purpose. I give thanks that through Divine Love this is done. And so it is.”
  2. Sense a large Usui power symbol moving in from above the stellar gateway, moving down all the way to the Gaia gateway, and spiraling over your body. Don’t worry about where the spirals of light flow; the energy will move where it is needed. The actual flow may vary from time to time when you do this. Pause for a moment as the energy channels open.
  3. Next, visualize a power symbol on the top of the stellar gateway, moving down to the soul star, to the causal chakra, into the crown, down the central channel to the ascending heart, the sacred heart, the base chakra, the earthstar, and ultimately the Gaia gateway.
  4. Take a few moments to feel the light infusing each of these points. This activates your central channel.

Next we move into a soul breathing patterns as follows.

  1. First draw in a breath as if inhaling from the soul star, down the front of the body into the earthstar, and up the back to and through the stellar gateway. Breathe in and out deeply, slowly and purposefully. Be sure you are expanding and filling your abdomen with each breath. Circulate the light like this with eight complete breaths. On the inhale draw the energy down with the breath, and on the exhale send it up.
  2. On the final exhale shift your focus up, and this time let the breath flow up through the stellar gateway. The next inhale will enter from the stellar gateway. Allow this breath to flow down the left side of your central channel all the way through the Gaia gateway and into the heart of the earth. On the exhale send the breath and energy up from the heart of the earth. Bring it up into the right side of your central channel and out through the stellar gateway. Breathe in this manner through four complete cycles.
  3. On the final exhale, visualize a power symbol floating up above the stellar gateway, and one in the core of the earth. Breathe the energy down through your entire central channel all the way into the earth.
  4. Pause and focus on the shift in your energy. When you are breathing, focus on the light within your central channel and breathe out into your energy field. Allow the light to expand and shimmer throughout all of your etheric bodies. Feel it in front, in back, on your sides, and above and below you. Send that soul light out from your central channel with the intention of perceiving your connection to the One Soul. When you feel this, breathe that light deep into your central channel and allow it to permeate every atom and cell of your physical body.

Soul Journey
Now that you are prepared, let’s journey to a time before our incarnation into this life, when many joined together as a great soul light and agreed to come back at this time to assist in humanity’s awakening to the age of peace. Do you remember this time? Do you remember the vision?

Imagine now that you are once again connected to that space in time. Do you remember the purity of that great soul light? Do you remember the power within that magnificent vision of peace?

Breathe the essence of that vision of peace into your heart…feel it anchor within you.

Breathe deeply, and slowly open your eyes and awaken to the age of peace.

I am ever thankful that Reiki has been such a powerful teacher in my life. It is through my constant use of Reiki that I have been guided to tools, teachings, and techniques such as those shared in this article. My life has been enhanced immeasurably as a result.

My soul knowing tells me that each and every one of us is here for precisely the same purpose. That purpose is to support humankind’s awakening to the knowing that we are to simply BE the full power of Divine Love and Divine Peace. The way that we express this purpose is unique to each one of us. We are transforming ourselves by remembering our purpose, and by acting on our remembrance we are transforming the world.

Reiki Stories

Emotional Healing
One of the most fascinating experiences I have had while providing a Reiki treatment occurred when my client began to release intense emotions which had been withheld for many years. In her personal life, my client was extremely unhappy in her marriage. She felt trapped into her marriage years ago, and still feels trapped because of her religious beliefs which do not include divorce as an option. During treatment, I offered a guided meditation to help my client relax, and used a therapeutic grade essential oil of Release for helping her to "let go" of pent-up feelings at the cellular level. Almost immediately, she began crying and progressed to heavy sobbing. In this state she proceeded to go deeply into her subconscious and release years of hidden resentments and frustrations. Physically, she began thrashing about, and at one point, I wondered if I could contain her form on the table! As the treatment progressed and I gently guided her with Reiki into her heart center, her upheavals and heaviness subsided. As the session ended and she sat up on the table, my client expressed deep gratitude for such a deep release, and she said she felt like she had "lost ten pounds." To both of our surprise, when she got up from the Reiki table, my client's pants were loose. Not just a bit, mind you. . . she had to change the buckle by several notches just to keep up her pants. She called me later on that evening to thank me once again and said that after she left my center, all day long she felt a tremendous freedom and lightness as she once knew as a child. What bliss! I must say that to witness such an immediate and drastic physical difference from an emotional release from Reiki was, indeed, a special experience for me as an energy practitioner. Linda Backes

Reiki and Colon Surgery
A few weeks ago a friend of mine underwent surgery for colon cancer. Right up to the point of the surgery, the doctors were going to perform a procedure that would leave her with a colostomy. The night before the surgery, she gave herself Reiki (being a 1st degree), and said prayers. On the next day, they were able to try an experimental procedure that made it possible for them to simply excise the tumorous portion of the colon. Needless to say, she is grateful for the help from her Reiki guides! Deborah Alborel

lReiki Heals Foot Pain
I had a woman come to me wanting me to prove to her that reiki really does work. She only told me she had pain in the bottom of her one foot for years and the doctor said the only way to fix it would be to operate on her foot which terrified her. I worked on her starting out doing a full treatment until I got to her ankle. I felt I needed to stay there for the rest of the treatment and never touched the bottom of her foot were she said the pain was. When the treatment was done she mentioned this fact but I told her the treatment was over and that I felt that the pain was from her ankle. That’s when she told me that she broke her ankle while walking home from school in the winter when she was eight yrs old; she was now in her thirties. That was the last treatment she had as it has been 8 yrs and as of today she has never had pain in that foot, she is totally amazed and tells everyone how Reiki helped her. Merna

I'm walking again thanks to Reiki
On July 27th, I seriously sprained an ankle and even managed to chip a bone in it. Some kind, unknown person drove me to the hospital as I was passing in and out of consciousness because of the pain. By the time we arrived at the hospital, the ankle had swollen to the size of a large softball and the bruising had begun. While waiting to be seen by a doctor, I did Reiki on the ankle. I was in the waiting room for more than an hour. After reviewing the x-rays the doctor told me that I had torn all five ligaments damaged the cartilage and chipped a bone. She told me that I would be on crutches for a minimum of two weeks or longer and then would require a cane for a month or so after that. I continued to do Reiki on the ankle two to three times a day and was walking on the foot within two days of the injury. By then the swelling had completely subsided, and the bruising, which was extensive, lasted only a week. I never did need the crutches or the cane, and now only a month later, am not experiencing any pain in the ankle. It's almost as if it never happened. Penny Lighthall

Ankle Healed
Some years back, I went with friends to participate in a vocal workshop up in LA that had us sharing a delicious, intimate space with Deva Premal & Miten. Voices were lifted; hearts were opened. The energy was most sweet. We had an "intermission", during which I noticed that a lady next to me had a cane and a heavily-bandaged ankle. I started to direct Reiki and, remembering my manners, stopped and asked if I could offer her a few minutes. She had never been in contact with anyone who was a practitioner, but showed interest and allowed me to work on her. After the workshop was done, I warmly embraced those dear troubadours and prepared to leave with my friends, when I saw the lady approaching me - the cane under her arm and walking with ease. She thanked me with all her heart, as the sprain in her ankle had stopped being a bother. Hari Om. Tim Shullberg

Headache and Neck Pain
I have been channeling energy for almost two years before I received my Reiki attunement a few weeks ago. I had some amazing things happen while working with the energy the first few times out. I was working on a friend, who had some pretty bad headaches, and I had placed one hand behind her occipitals, then the other one on her forehead or third eye, after about 5 minutes or so her head started moving along with my hands. I was caught off guard with this wonder but I continued to channel the energy that was flowing. She was just amazed at the change in her headache, and so was I. The second incident I was working on my father who stated he had a pinched nerve in his neck. I started massaging his neck and doing some ROM, then I was prompted to put my finger along each side of his neck, and then from there my Reiki guides and the Divine came in to channel the energy. My hands and his neck started moving in different directions, then after about 10 minutes he was like oh, oh.... What happened, he had felt a couple of pops in his neck and felt relief. Jen

Reiki Healed Poisoned Birds
This is one of my very early experiences with Reiki. It happened before I became a Master Teacher in 2001. I initially learnt Reiki to heal my old ex-racehorse (with great success). Where I kept my horses there was a huge barn next to the stables. The barn was leased to a man who built boats in it. Due to the sparrows and other birds flying in and pooping on the boats, this man laid out poison to kill the birds. One day visiting the horses I almost tripped over a tiny sparrow sitting there on the ground. It was not happy. It was lifting its wing and using its beak with some agitation under the wing area. Well I started beaming Reiki from a few feet away, and within 25 minutes the sparrow became more and more settled, started to hop around more and more, then finally it flew away! I was amazed. I had been mentally asking "does this Reiki REALLY work?” I felt this was a definite YES answer! Now this happened many many more times with the poisoned birds, they almost "lay in wait for me" or so it felt like. Sometimes they were unable to stand properly and would roll right over, and each would slowly recover, first by being able to stand, and then hop a little, then more and more, then getting to the point of flying away! (It never took longer than 25 minutes, sometimes less). I knew Reiki purified foods of chemical sprays, additives and the like - I often treat one plate of food with Reiki and leave a second plate of the same food untreated - the taste differences between the two are amazing. I presumed a similar thing was happening with the poison in the birds. P.S. I had always been very very scared of birds flying around due to an incident in my grandparents’ hen house as a child. (Even though I loved birds I could not bear them flying around me). Since the poisoned birds, I have got braver and braver, now I keep pet hens and a pet rooster, plus rescue fledgling birds who have fallen from their nests and hand feed them until they are old enough to fly away. This is a great blessing for me too. Paulette Carson
