Reiki Stories
Reiki at an AIDS Hospice
A few years ago I moved to a new town. I wanted Reiki to be a big part of my workday so I offered volunteer treatments at Rainbow Home, an AIDS hospice. I felt this work would let the Universe know I wanted to do more and more Reiki treatments.
On my first day offering Reiki treatments, a Young man in a wheel chair asked if it was voodoo with a crooked smile on his face, I told him it was good voodoo.
Within a few weeks of treatments he was walking with a cane. A few months later he told me how he wished he could do to himself what I did through Reiki. It did not take me long to attune him, explain the bare necessities “put your hands on yourself” and left for the day. The next day Harold had the biggest smile for me as he said “ I did to myself what you have been doing, it worked.”
As time went by he became a Reiki Master and he would help in offering Reiki to other residents even the ones needing assistance in the dying process.
Within 3 months I was given a two-year grant to offer weekly treatments to residents and staff. I even attuned some of them to level 1 offering the teachings as we went along.
The nurses noticed that when a resident received a session, he did not need pain or sleep meds. When I attuned a resident, they had to pay attention to all his meds, as significant reductions had to be made.
The benefits did not stop there, when I started my visits 16 men sat side by side waiting for death. Within two years they became emotional brothers creating a candle making business to raise money for group activities. The residents had become a family of sorts. The ones who died in those years had a gentler passing with the help of Reiki. Murielle M. Wesch
Severe Injuries Healed
Almost a year ago my nephew and his family were involved in a major automobile accident. I was 3000 miles away and when the call came in I was told that it was unknown if my 14 year old great niece would even live. She had various fractures of the legs, ribs, and pelvis but also had lost a great deal of blood. I contacted my teacher and asked if he would send a distant healing and to contact others with that same request. I went online and also contacted others. After the first 48 hours passed they said she would live but they were unsure if she would walk again. I moved back to be close to my family. I continued to do Reiki on her both distant healing and when she came home from the hospital. To make a long story short- the doctor said he doesn't know what he saw before on the x-rays because now he expects a full recovery. One year later while still using her wheelchair for distance, she can walk using crutches and will probably be able to return to playing basketball and softball. She still has some surgeries in front of her but a full recovery is expected. My sister contracted meningitis which triggered Bells Palsy, although she was skeptical at first, soon she requested Reiki sessions because she could tell she was healing.
That same summer my uncle had a heart attack- he was amazed that he could feel the Reiki energy when I did the healing. His recovery was so rapid; the nurses said they had never seen anything like that. I believe Reiki made the difference in all cases. Chi Neal
Life Transformed
I want to thank Annie and Jerry my Reiki teachers for the life-changing retreat I attended. I especially am thankful for being introduced to meditation and Reiki. I am faithfully using both daily and the impact on my life is incredible. For the first time in years, I am truly calm. Yet I am experiencing a new energy that is productive and healing instead of stressful and agitated.
I no longer use sleeping pills to fall asleep, and I awaken naturally to the serenade of birds instead of the jolt of an alarm clock. It is hard to describe the overall sense of well being I now feel. I still face daily issues that previously would send me into a spin. Now, I am learning to accept them and allowing the balance in my mind, body and spirit to move me forward. I know this is a result of practicing Reiki. I may not yet fully understand how or why it works, but right now, that s not important. As I continue to learn and practice, I know I will understand. For me, believing in the power of Reiki is the beginning to being whole again.
As a recovering alcoholic, Reiki is a gift. Alcoholism is described as a disease of the mind, body and spirit. This practice is my medicine. I am healing. I feel it in my brain, my heart and my soul. The security of knowing I have this incredible gift will keep me on my path to wholeness, peace and joy.
I look forward to returning to Harmony House and deepening my understanding and commitment to utilizing the gifts you so lovingly have given me.
Thank you, my friends! Joanie Liess
