A Response to the Bishops' Statement on Reiki
by William Lee Rand
On March 25, 2009, U.S. Catholic bishops issued a statement advising Catholic hospitals, health care facilities, and Catholic chaplains not to support the use of Reiki sessions. The statement was issued by The Committee on Doctrine, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and titled: “Guidelines for Evaluating Reiki as Alternative Therapy.”
The statement was based on research the committee had done over a period of several months involving information found on the Internet and in Reiki books. Based on these sources, they concluded that Reiki came from Buddhist texts and has a religious basis; that Reiki healing energy is directed by human thought and will; that Reiki is not validated by scientific studies and has no scientific explanation, and that Reiki is not accepted by the medical community.
When considering the value of the bishops’ statement, it’s important to note the sources they accessed. Much of their research came from information published on Internet Web sites. Overall, the Internet isn’t a good source of factual information because there is no requirement that information published there be checked or approved for accuracy. Anyone can set up a Web site and publish anything they wish. What often happens is that authors of sites copy from each other, so if inaccurate information is published on one site, it can easily spread to many sites across the Internet. If one makes use of the Internet for research, one must use a developed set of selection criteria that limits one to only the most respected and reputable Web sites. Otherwise, one runs the risk of accepting rumor and misinformation as fact.
This is especially true for Reiki Web sites. Reiki information has been riddled with inaccurate ideas from the beginning of its practice in the West. Many Reiki practitioners, teachers and authors fail to check the accuracy of the information they base their teaching and writing on, and this has had a detrimental effect on the quality of information published both on the Internet and in Reiki books.
The best information on Reiki comes from those who have researched the history and practice of Reiki professionally by conducting research in Japan, reading original documents, and interviewing members of the founding Reiki organization in Japan. If the bishops who wrote the statement on Reiki had interviewed several of these experts, they would have realized that much of the published information on Reiki is inaccurate, and they would have had accurate, verifiable information on which to base their conclusions.
Origin of Reiki
One of the stories told by Mrs. Takata about the origin of Reiki indicates that the founder, Mikao Usui discovered the secret of Reiki n Buddhist texts.1 This story has been repeated over and over in Reiki classes, on Internet Web sites and in many Reiki books. Yet we know this isn’t true. For many years, Mrs. Takata was the only source of information about Reiki for those in the West, and most practitioners accepted her statements without question. Language, cultural, and organizational barriers in Japan made research difficult for those who wanted to learn more about the origins and practice of Reiki. It wasn’t until the end of the 90’s that a few researchers were able to make breakthroughs.
Researchers, including Toshitaka Mochizuki, Hiroshi Doi and Frank Arjava Petter, made contact with the original Reiki organization, discovered Mikao Usui’s grave, translated the story of Reiki inscribed on his memorial stone, and uncovered an original document written by Mikao Usui about the nature of Reiki. These sources indicate that Mikao Usui wasn’t seeking to discover a method of healing, but that the ability to heal came to him spontaneously during a spiritual experience on a sacred mountain. Furthermore, in his Reiki Ryoho Hikkei (Reiki Healing Art Handbook), Mikao Usui states: “My Usui Reiki Ryoho (healing art) is original, never before explored, and incomparable in the world.” These facts indicate that Reiki couldn’t have come from Buddhist texts, nor could it be connected to any religion or belief system. In addition, Japanese Reiki Masters who have knowledge of Buddhism have indicated that they can find nothing from Buddhism in the practice of Reiki and that Reiki is religiously neutral.2
The Nature of Reiki Healing
One of the first things I noticed after I took my first Reiki class and began to practice Reiki is that Reiki healing energy directs itself. I was unable to direct it with my mind or will and realized this wasn’t necessary as Reiki had its own form of guidance that was superior to my own. This experience has been verified by other professional Reiki practitioners and forms the basis of one of the important keys to using Reiki: If you want Reiki to provide the best healing experience, it’s necessary for the practitioner to set their own desire, will and ego aside, and allow the Reiki energy to guide itself.
Scientific Explanation for Reiki
There is a scientific explanation for Reiki that is based on scientific studies and factual information. This explanation has been presented as a testable hypothesis by James Oschman, Ph.D.
Dr. Oschman is a scientist with a conventional background who became interested in the practice of energy medicine. Through research, he discovered a number of important scientific studies that point to a scientific basis for energy medicine based on the laws of physics and biology. These findings are discussed in an interview, “Science and the Human Energy Field,” published in the Winter 2002 issue of Reiki News Magazine.
The electrical currents that run through every part of the human body provide the basis for Dr. Oschman’s hypothesis. These currents are present in the nervous system, organs, and cells of the body. For instance, the electrical signals that trigger the heartbeat travel throughout all the tissues of the body and can be detected anywhere on the body.
Ampere’s law indicates that when an electrical current flows through a conductor, an electromagnetic field is produced that reflects the nature of the current that created it. Tests with scientific instruments indicate that electromagnetic fields exist around the body and around each of the organs of the body, including the brain, heart, kidneys, liver, stomach, etc. The heart has the strongest field, which has been measured at a distance of 15 feet from the body.
The fields around each of the organs pulse at different frequencies and stay within a specific frequency range when they are healthy, but move out of this range when they are unhealthy. The hands of healers produce pulsing electromagnetic fields when they are in the process of healing, whereas the hands of non-healer do not produce these fields. When a healer places his or her hands on or near a person in need of healing, the electromagnetic field of the healer’s hands sweeps through a range of frequencies based on the needs of the part of the body being treated. Faraday’s law indicates that one electromagnetic field can induce currents into a nearby conductor and through this process, induce a similar field around it. In this way, a healer induces a healthy electromagnetic field around an unhealthy organ, thus inducing a healthy state in the organ. A detailed explanation of this hypothesis, including descriptions of the scientific studies, diagrams, and references is presented in the interview mentioned above.
Acceptance by the Medical Community
Although Reiki is not universally accepted within the medical community, many medical professionals, hospitals, and healthcare facilities recognize its benefits and accept it as an adjunct therapy. In Holistic Nursing, A Handbook for Practice, Chapter 2 “Scope and Standards of Practice,” the American Holistic Nursing Association (AHNA) lists Reiki as an accepted form of treatment.3 In addition, according to the American Hospital Association, in 2007 Reiki was offered as a standard part of patient care in 15% or over 800 hospitals across the US.4 Doctors have recommended Reiki to their patients for amelioration of various health-related conditions. Surgeons make use of Reiki practitioners prior to, during, and following surgery. As an example, Dr. Mehmet Oz, one of the most respected cardiovascular surgeons in the US, uses Reiki during open-heart surgeries and heart transplants. According to Dr. Oz, “Reiki has become a sought-after healing art among patients and mainstream medical professionals.”5
Ethical Implications
To refuse Reiki treatment to patients that request it creates an ethical issue. According to the AHNA statement in response to the bishops’ statement, the practice of holistic nursing is not subject to regulation by the Catholic church and it would be an ethical violation for a member of the AHNA to withhold Reiki treatment from a patient who requests it; this includes those working in Catholic hospitals.
Scientific Studies
There are a number of reputable scientific studies that provide evidence that Reiki is therapeutic. These studies can be found by using one of the professional medical databases such as PubMed or Cochrane Collection.6 Studies meeting medical and scientific standards are usually published in peer-reviewed journals. There are over 20 such studies on the therapeutic value of Reiki. A review of some of these studies, “An Integrative Review of Reiki Touch Therapy Research” by Anne Vitale, Ph. D., can be found at http://www.nursingcenter.com/pdf.asp?AID=732068.
While the Reiki studies conducted to date are preliminary in nature, they do provide support for additional studies.
One well-designed Reiki study is “Autonomic Nervous-System-Changes During Reiki Treatment: A Preliminary Study.”7 Forty-five subjects were assigned randomly to three groups. One group received no treatment, another received Reiki treatment by experienced Reiki practitioners, and the third group received sham treatment by a person with no Reiki training who used the same hand positions as those receiving real Reiki.
Measurements were made of heart rate, cardiac vagal tone, blood pressure, cardiac sensitivity to baroreflex, and breathing. Heart rate and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly for those receiving Reiki, but not for those receiving sham Reiki, or no treatment. This study indicates that the body does respond to Reiki energy and that this response isn’t purely psychological. It also indicates a potential therapeutic effect for Reiki.
“Reiki Improves Heart Rate Homeostasis in Laboratory Rats”8 is another valuable study. The value of using animals in this type of study is that they are not affected by belief or skepticism regarding Reiki. In addition, highly accurate telemetric implants were used to transmit the biometric data. White noise was used to increase the heart rate of three implanted laboratory rats. The rats were treated by a Reiki practitioner and by a sham Reiki practitioner prior to being exposed to white noise and after exposure. The procedure involved the practitioner directing their hands toward the caged rat at a distance of four feet. The rats that received Reiki experienced a significant reduction in heart rate, both before having their heart rates elevated by white noise and after, whereas those treated with sham Reiki did not. This is one of the most rigorous Reiki studies to date and demonstrates that Reiki reduces the heart rate in both stressed and unstressed animals and promotes homeostasis, both of which promote healthy heart function.
Reiki is practiced by followers of many religious traditions. Although some practitioners integrate Reiki into their existing religious beliefs, Reiki is not a religion, doctrine, or dogma. Reiki is grounded in the principle of compassionate action, which is common to all religious traditions. While each religion has the right to create its own rules, it’s within the nature of human dignity and free will for each person to decide which path to follow and what activities are appropriate for them.

Pets Respond to Reiki
by Ursula Janiga-Price
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Mahatma Gandhi
According to Anatole France, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” Pets love us unconditionally and usually do not ask for much in return other than love, providing them with food and a comfortable home. Performing regular Reiki treatments on our pets is one way we can show them love and give them a relaxing healing at the same time.
When a new pet comes into the family, it is important to find out as much information as possible about this pet by doing research into their habits, how they act and re-act to certain things, the noises they make to communicate and what is considered a normal behavior or routine. Pets quickly become an important part of the family and make us aware that they have feelings, aches and pains or emotional needs that require nurturing and regular attention. Treating a new pet with Reiki as soon as possible is a wonderful way to help them adjust so that they can be happy in their new environment.
Like humans, pets can experience disruptions in their energy fields. By being mindful of our pets’ different characteristics and moods, we can assist them in maintaining a level of balance, peace and contentment. Reiki not only calms a pet and makes them feel relaxed, but also helps with any emotional healing or unwanted habits they may have developed. Often a pet will let us know that something is not right with them and that they need a little extra attention, tender loving care, and quite possibly a full Reiki treatment.
Many pets sense our feelings and will react according to what is going on within our households. If a change in their routine is going to occur, a pet Reiki session can help them accept the adjustment. Some other reasons to give Reiki to our pets could include:
- rebalancing the energy system and providing relaxation
- helping to calm a nervous or an emotional habit
- aiding with a healing when they are receiving medication for an illness or injury
- strengthening the connection between the pet and the owner
- reducing anxiety or stress level
- maintaining their level of contentment and peace
- healing physical ailments to ease pain
- restoring and maintaining good eating and sleeping patterns
- boosting their immune systems, especially when they are sick
- calming them before going to the vet’s, or on a trip
- comforting them after their shots or an operation
- aiding the pet in accepting a new member in the family, including other pets
- providing them with the loving and healing of Reiki energy

Erika gives loving Reiki
energy to her horse Valentine. |

Books have been written about proper Reiki techniques and animal Reiki etiquette. However, when it is our own pet, we automatically have a very special bond with this member of our family and just seem to know their specific needs. Each pet is different even when they are receiving a healing. It is important to rely on our intuitive guidance and to pay attention to how our pet is reacting to the energy that is being sent. For some pets, either because they cannot be handled, as with fish or frogs, or they do not respond well to touch, beaming the energy works very well. Using the Distant Healing symbol, the Emotional/Mental symbol, and the Power symbol will help in beaming Reiki to our pets. We can also send distant Reiki when we are away from our pets.
With hands-on treatments, often the spine area, head and heart, or joints in the legs are very receptive to Reiki. There is usually a look of complete contentment and relaxation in the pet’s eyes and body when a Reiki treatment is in progress. Often the pets will become so relaxed that they just fall into a deep sleep. Some Reiki sessions will be longer than others and will depend on the convenience of time from their Reiki owner or the inclination of the pet to receive Reiki. However, even the shortest of treatments will provide beneficial effects to the pet. It is very rewarding to see or sense the gratitude that a pet displays after a Reiki treatment.

Our cat Clio receives Reiki from daughter Danielle. |
Some pets are very set in their ways and like a scheduled time, not only for feeding, but also for cuddling with their owners and for receiving Reiki. They may have a special blanket or place in the home where they will receive the treatment. Our cat Clio, has become a “Reiki junkie” the past few years and insists, by meowing loudly or following us around, on receiving Reiki every morning and evening on top of our daughter Danielle’s bed on her own cat blanket. She will let us know where she needs the Reiki by standing and turning her body towards our hands. She loves to receive it on her head and over her eyes and will often push her head into our hands. While receiving the energy she purrs and when she’s had enough, she jumps off the bed and goes on about her business.
Teaching our children to give the gift of a Reiki treatment to their pets affords them the opportunity to experience first hand an incredible bonding with the animal. It allows the children to be present in the moment with their pets. They learn to be more compassionate and about giving and receiving unconditional love. When children provide a Reiki healing to their pets they can calm themselves down from their own daily stresses by focusing on their pet’s needs. Our daughter Stefanie says that it provides her with an emotional therapy time, and Danielle says that she’s learned how to let go and be in a meditative state in her mind when giving Reiki to our cat Clio. In turn, the pets continue to provide more love and companionship to the children and always look forward to the next healing, cuddling, or grooming session. Pets love to receive these acts of kindness and togetherness from their owners.
In my Reiki classes, I encourage students, both adults and children, to incorporate their pets into their practice times using the Reiki energy and symbols they’ve learned. It is often very easy to get a pet to co-operate while the novice Reiki practitioner becomes aware of how the energy flows through their hands. Practicing on a pet also helps the student develop confidence in their healing work. Our pets will let us know through their actions what they think of a Reiki session.
The photographs that accompany this article are of my Reiki students giving Reiki to their pets. When Neil’s ferret had a bladder infection, he was able to administer daily Reiki to help ease the pain while the medication took effect. Erika, another Reiki student, gives some loving Reiki energy to her horse Valentine just before setting out on a riding lesson. I have treated Valentine and know how she loves to be visited in the barn for Reiki sessions. She will often lay her head on our shoulders and stand quietly letting the energy fill her body. Other horses in the barn will also come up to their gates and nuzzle up to us or lick our hands. They respond quickly to the Reiki energy and are very open to receiving it.

Graham, Cameron, Mikayla and Zeus. |
Siblings Mikayla, Graham and Cam can sense more heat in their dog Zeus’s ear when it is infected and provide hands on healing sessions to help reduce the pain and inflammation. Zeus stays on the floor absorbing the energy and looks at the children with big, melting eyes of gratitude. Many of my students tell me that it brings them much joy to provide healing treatments to their pets, and they look forward to it. They become aware of and understand their pet’s needs better and feel fulfilled in being able to help out in this way.
Pets respond very well to a Reiki treatment when they are injured or in pain once they have been accustomed to receiving it. They know how it feels and they allow us to move the energy through their body without fear. As our pets age they require a bit more attention with regular energy healings. Often Reiki eases the pain they are experiencing, whether in their joints or other parts of the body, or when they are experiencing pain of an emotional nature. At the end of their lives, a pet’s transition can be eased with the warmth and calming they receive through Reiki.
Pets fill our lives with joy and our homes with love, companionship, caring and compassion. That’s also what Reiki is all about! Giving our pets regular Reiki treatments allows us to reciprocate this gift of love.

A Dream Come True
by William Lee Rand
I’d been coming to Hana for several years to teach classes and I’d often go for walks down the road along the ocean. As I’d walk along I’d often look up at the mountains and at the homes peeking out here and there through the trees and vegetation. I’d fantasize about what it must be like to live up there; the amazing view they must have of the coastline and the ocean and the beautiful sun and moon rises they must experience. And I’d think about the people who live there and the affect living there must have on their state of mind. How peaceful it must be.
I’d also think about how I’d like to have a place like that. A place to relax, a place to teach classes and by living there become part of the community of people who are as mellow and relaxed and beautiful as the sky the land and the sea.
But I thought that if it ever happened, it would be something that happened a long time in the future. I didn’t know how I’d afford a place like that and beside, deep inside, I didn’t really feel ready, or even worthy to accept something that nurturing and wonderful into my life.
Then recently I began to realize that I’d been saving my money to retire and doing so in a way that was kind of fearful, thinking that I had to have enough so I didn’t have to work. And as I let go of the fear, I began to see that there was no need for me to retire and in fact I decided I wasn’t going to retire. When I accepted this, I realized that I just might have enough to get a place in the land I loved. But still, I didn’t feel worthy.
Then one day I was walking down the same road I’d walked down so many times before; the road that had the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. And as I rounded a bend, the mountains came into view along with the homes were up there. And there was one home, a home sitting up on the side of the mountain that was designed to take advantage of the view. It was round with windows all along the coastal side. And I had often thought about how smart the people must be to have built a home like that and imagined what a great view they must have.
But this time was different. Something very significant happened. As I came round the bend, a feeling came over me. It was an uplifting feeling and I could feel an energy flowing all around and this energy affected my entire being. It was nurturing and I felt my self esteem heal and a feeling came over me that said yes, I was worthy to own a house up there. This was a really good feeling and I felt complete and knew that I was being healed and given direction. It was time for me to begin looking for a home in Hana.
I looked at a few homes but had to leave; but returned in a few months to look in earnest. I was staying in a house with a startlingly beautiful view and it was for sale, but already had a buyer. Then my real estate agent brought over a number of listings. One was the same round house I had seen from the road when I had the miraculous healing experience. I thought this an amazing stroke of luck. We went to look at the house and it also had a great web site. This was an absolutely amazing house and I really did want to buy it. In fact, I was extremely excited. So I prayed about it and was told that it was important not to try to manifest this house for myself. I was told to keep my energy out of it, and to turn it over to God. This was not the God as defined by traditional religion, but the God I had come to know through Reiki. The God I came to know on my own. When I became aware of this I also knew it was God who had healed my self esteem and that this was part of a greater plan. So, I let go of my desire and focused on allowing whatever outcome God had in mind to unfold. I accepted both outcomes. If God wanted me to own the home, I accepted it, or if God wanted me to not own the home, I accepted this too.
We made an offer and waited. Then we were told that there were two other offers higher than mine and both were paying cash. I felt it was over and that the house was gone. But I chose to remain in the state of allowing God’s will to be done – either way.
After I got back home in Michigan, my realtor called to say there was a chance. Then the first buyer backed out and I was told that because of my background, the owners preferred to sell to me.
I was ecstatic, but knowing that buying a house has many challenges, I maintained my openness to whatever outcome God had in mind. In the end, I received a wonderful gift.

World Peace Card Meditation
Thursday, May 21, 7:30pm
(based on local time in your time zone)
You are invited to take part in the fifth World Peace Card Meditation. Please mark your calendar and forward this notice to all your friends.
Thanks for Your Help!
Because so many of you forwarded this notice to your friends, there have been over 80,000 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been over 95,000! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.
A fifth World Peace Card group meditation has been scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.
Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future.
All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people.
Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace.
We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you'll be blessed by this experience as well.
Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

Burn Healed with "Cool" Reiki
I received my master reiki attunement almost two years ago, and I almost feel uncomfotable calling myself a "master" because reiki is always teaching me something new! Everytime I've ever done reiki to myself or others my hands have always become very hot, and everyone else who's done reiki to me have always had hot hands as well. My assumption was that reiki energy always comes through as that warm sensation but I had an experience that taught me otherwise... About a year ago I was reading a book in bed and my lamp was just above my head, but had no cover on it; I was getting pretty tired so I reached above my head without looking to turn out the light and burned my finger on the bulb. The pain was unbearable, so I ran to the kitchen and grabbed an ice cube to put on my finger to ease the pain. But I kept melting the ice cubes within a matter of minutes, and finally was too tired to go get another ice cube. The problem was as soon as I took the ice cube away, there was a shooting pain going straight up my arm, and my finger still continued to feel as if I had just burned it all over again. I then decided to try reiki on my finger, but was a little hesitant because I thought my hand would get hot and make my finger even more painful. To my surprise my hand that was channeling reiki got extremely cold! The energy felt so cold, in fact, that it felt as if I still had an ice cube on my finger. The pain went away within about 30 seconds, and I finally was able to fall asleep. The next day I had a large blister on my finger from the burn, so I took a rose quartz stone that I happened to have, and put reiki into the stone and asked for it's help to heal the blister. That same night I looked at my finger and the blister was completely gone! I couldn't even tell where the burn had been. It was amazing for me to experience the power of reiki in that way, and taught me never to have any expectations about what reiki can do or how it works! Sincerely, Jolene Smith
Reiki Helps Diabetic
Dear Mr.Rand: I do not know how to thank you adequately for introducing this wonderful method to me and to my members of the family who were skeptical to begin with. You might ask why I am thanking you when you have not met me or talked to me. I belong to your proud lineage having been attuned recently by Reiki Master Somorendra Mukherjee Sharma of Imphal, Manipur,India. Somo is a gem of the rarest species. Sometime ago during a visit to Imphal- a remote northeastern part of India- I fell a victim to severe stomach cramps which no allopathic medicine would cure.It was Somo who by a mere flash of his energetic hands eliminated the problem. Since then he has been perusading me to understand Reiki in all its dimensions He sacrificed his time to come down to Chennai- a distance of about 3000kms- to induct me to Reiki. I am now a Reiki I and II Channel. Also the power of Reiki was not lost on me. He gave me distant healing during my recent cataract surgery. As a diabetic,my sugar levels were hovering around 250 mg/l despite 20 unis of Insulin twice a day. Therefore the surgery had a risk element and the doctors were reluctant to go ahead. The day prior to surgery, however, the sugar dipped to 140 and even when Insulin was discontinued on doctors orders for surgical reasons, the sugar never went above 110 mg/l. I thought it was a remarkable turnaround at a time when I was keen that I should have the surgery done. The surgery was a success. I am now fairly well convinced that Reiki has acted through Somo-my friend, philosopher and guide. My grateful thanks to Reiki and the Ascended Masters. Chakravarti, India.
Reiki Clears Arteries
An update on my Reiki student I asked all of you to send Reiki to a couple of weeks ago. I saw her today and have some information to share with all of you. When I initially made the request to all of you, I had not known the extent of the calcification of her aorta. Today I found out that it was 75% blocked! Her physician sent her to get a CT scan (which was scheduled a couple of weeks after all of us had begun sending Reiki to her). The physicians were puzzled when they read the CT scan as her aorta results were essentially negative - only minimally calcified. This is something that can be managed by vasodilators and puts her out of the immediate danger zone. She was VERY happy with the results and thanked me and wanted me to also thank all of you for the Reiki you sent to her. I thank you all, too, from the bottom of my heart. If you don't mind to continue to send her Reiki and lets see if the remainder of the calcification will "go away". With light, love, and peace, Sandy
Reiki Helps Fix Battery Charger
Dear Mr. Rand: I am excited to tell you what happened to me today morning around 6.00 am Indian time. I have an inverter (UPS) connected to a battery.I heard a loud noise like click-click-click continuosly, non-stop. I went to the UPS to see what is wrong with it. UPS was on off position. I immediately thought off Reiki, and started giving Reiki to the Invertor (UPS) for about 30 minutes, and to add to my frustration, it was not working, I started getting upset and did not know what to do, and stated feeling that how can I face my students in my Reiki classes. To my surprise, my hand was guided to the Battery and to the battery terminal. To my surprise I was guided to one of the terminal which was going to Inverter (UPS) and found it was cut-off from the Battery, that was the reason for the loud noise from the Inverter (UPS). I got it reconnected to the terminal and everything was normal. Immediately I gave in myself to Reiki and did Reiki on self. To day I can explain this to students who are coming to participate in My Reiki classes. Immediately after this happened and I thought of you, hence this email.
Best regards R. Palakkal
Reiki Gets Into Hospital
I am the coordinator of Waskita Reiki Foundation branch of Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia (foundation that especially teach of Reiki G'tummo). I am very interested in socialisation of Reiki to others. Why ? Because, I myself (also my family) have directly feel the positive impact of Reiki. Since I've attuned for Reiki I on October 2000, Reiki II on July 2001, and Personal mastery on September 2001, I feel great great of my health, thinking, emotion, etc. Many of my friends often ask me, why do you always look on 'ON' condition ? I just give them smile, and starting to give them information about reiki as much as I can. They seem (and of course sure) interested in reiki. So that I openned the Reiki Clinic on Fridays and Saturdays (twice a week), to share Reiki with others. It is openned for public and free of charge. I also try to socialise Reiki in a few social event (for example: celebrating independence day at my office - I am a government employee). We (I and my team) used to give a free reiki healing in that moment, mass system, not one by one. We invite people from surrounding and related institutions. One day, I invited head of Center of Community Health, we call it as Puskesmas - Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat (small hospital - district hospital). Surprisingly, She is very interested in Reiki system. She ask for us to regularly practice reiki in her hospital. Her reason that Reiki doesn't against medical system, it is paralled. I agree, and now, we set up reiki healing practice at this hospital once a week, every friday morning from 10 - 11 am. We are very happy facing the doctor like her, moderate, so we can join together.
