Using Reiki to See Auras and Past Lives
by William Lee Rand
I’ve been using gyoshi ho to see auras and past lives and have also been showing my students how to do this. The technique of gyoshi ho was described in August 2001 online news letter in an article titled, The Look of Love.
To use gyoshi ho to see auras or past lives, follow these steps:
1. Sit with a partner about 6-10 feet apart.
2. Have your partner close their eyes and relax with their hands palms up on their legs.
3. Place Reiki symbols on your hands if you have them and place your hands on your legs and begin giving yourself Reiki.
4. After a few minutes, begin staring at your partner with a soft gaze and relaxed eyes.
5. Think of your eyes and think of Reiki and intend that Reiki flow to your partner through your eyes.
6. As you do this, you’ll likely go into a light trance state. Allow this to happen.
7. As you continue to stare, you will likely begin to see changes happen around your partners face. It may begin to appear that a fog or mist is forming around the face or that a darkening is taking place which could build till you can’t see the face at all. When this happens, don’t allow it to startle you, but just continue to stare.
8. As you continue, the fog or dark mist will clear and you’ll likely see your partner with a different appearance. This is likely how they looked in a past life.
9. You may also begin to see a white mist around the head or you could begin to see colors. This is the aura.
10. You many also see the image of another person or a light being next to your partner. This could also be how they appeared in a past life or it could be one of their spirit guides.
This really works and many get positive results the first time they try, but practice is needed to develop skill. This is a very healthy technique as both people will receive a healing. I highly recommend you try it.
This technique will be featured in a new DVD I’m producing as part of a project called the Reiki Tool Kit with a company called Sounds True. The kit will contain a workbook, DVD, 2 CDs containing guided meditations and music to do Reiki to, and a deck of Reiki cards. Look for it toward the end of the year.

Reiki Questions and Answers
by William Lee Rand
Q. How long should I stay in each hand position?
A. Some teach a method of staying exactly the same period of time in each hand position. As an example, this time is often said to be 3 minutes and there are Reiki session CDs that contain music with a gong or tone that sounds every 3 minutes to let the practitioner know when to move the hands. However, this method doesn’t take into consideration that the client may need more Reiki in some areas than in others. In fact, this is almost always the case. And when a person comes with a specific condition, then it is appropriate to treat the areas relating to the condition longer. One way to know how long to stay in one position is to pay attention to the flow of Reiki. If an area needs more Reiki, then usually more Reiki will begin flowing in that area and this is something you can usually feel. If you feel more Reiki flowing in a hand position, then leave your hands in that position longer. As you feel the flow subsiding, then you’ll know it’s time to move your hands. Another rule of thumb is to stay in each position a minimum of 3 minutes as it sometimes takes this long for the energy to reach the flow rate needed. If after 3 minutes, the flow is not strong, then move to the next position. However, if a lot of Reiki is flowing, then stay longer, up to 10 minutes or more. But be careful not to stay too long as this could prevent you from completing the treatment in the time you have available. If Reiki is still flowing strongly when you change positions, you can come back to this position at the end of the treatment if you have extra time.
Q. Do distant attunements work?
A. This question is not to be confused with distant treatments. Reiki can be sent at a distance using the distant symbol to give a treatment and this is a standard part of the Usui system of Reiki and was practiced by Dr. Usui. Distant attunements are another issue. As far as we know, Dr. Usui didn’t send attunements at a distance and trained all his students in person. He did this for a reason and my experience and that of many others indicates that it is much better to get your attunements from a teacher in person. Some of the frequencies of the attunement don’t travel well over a distance and are best sent in person through the physical touch of the teacher. So, while there is some energy transmitted, and some people have felt something from a distant attunement, it’s important to know that the full strength of the attunement can only be transmitted in person. It’s also important to know who your initiation teacher is and to have a good feel for their energy, their intention and if they will really be a good teacher for you. This is a very important aspect of your training can best be determined by meeting your teacher in person. Finally, proper instruction in which the teacher demonstrates how to do each of the Reiki techniques and then guides the student in the practice of the techniques can only be done well in person. If you’re serious about Reiki, you’ll seek out a good teacher and receive your Reiki training in person. I’ve written an article about this which you can read at: http://www.reiki.org/reikinews/Distantattunement.html
Q. Can Reiki be taught to children?
A. Yes, children have a natural understanding of Reiki and are often eager to learn. In deciding if a child is old enough and is ready to take a Reiki class, it’s important to teach only to those children who understand what Reiki is and have expressed an interest in learning Reiki on their own. A beginning class works better if it is attended by one of the child’s parents. The class information needs to be kept simple and each lesson should not be too long as children have a short attention span. Children are often very sensitive to Reiki energy and many can see the aura and even see and feel Reiki energy. These abilities need to be nurtured and treated in very positive ways. One thing that can be done in this respect is to have the child draw and color what they think Reiki looks like or to draw the colors of energy they see or think they see or feel round other people in the class or that represent the kind of feelings and energies those people have. Another fun technique is to have the child give Reiki to a flower or a tree or to a pet. We’ve had articles on this subject in previous issues of the Reiki News Magazine. Reiki Research Study - Volunteers Needed
I'm involved with a scientific research project into Reiki which will hopefully demonstrate that absent Reiki has a positive effect on people psychologically.
I'm after any volunteers that I can get who have been attuned with at least Reiki II that wouldn't mind sending absent Reiki to a group of people whose photos they will receive. The project will take place over about a month sometime between September and November this year.
I've put more details on our web site at

Keeping Reiki Free
by William Lee Rand
Reiki energy comes to us freely and works its miracles to our joy and amazement. While its important that we appreciate its value,
its also important that we remain aware of the forces around us that could limit how we use it. While governmental restrictions are a
possibility, the power of Reiki is stronger and can help us create the legal protection that will preserve its practice for generations to come. |

Reiki Heals Broken Arm
My son Michael, then 14 years old, fell and broke his right forearm about 4 pm on a Friday afternoon. The office staff of the traditional healthcare provider that he had been assigned to by has father's medical [PPO] insurance coverage told me that they could not see him until 4:15 on the following Monday. They refused to authorize him to be seen in the Emergency Dept and
would not permit him to even get x-rays until after they saw him, 72 hours later. The most frustrating aspect is that in more than 25 years as medical / emergency services professional I am very familiar with the appearance of broken limbs. The break was serious, and closes enough that the growth plate could very well be involved. I began doing Reiki on his arm; when my daughter, also a Reiki Master, returned from work she took over doing Reiki while I called my friend, Susan, another Reiki Master, and requested that she perform distance Reiki and recruit any other helpers she felt might be needed. We all continued to do Reiki on his arm periodically throughout the weekend. By the time he was seen and x-rayed on Monday afternoon, the break was completely healed with no damage to the bones, simply a faint jagged line when the break had been. At that point in my son's life he had completed Reiki II; despite the shock of falling and
the pain of the break, he had begun doing Reiki himself as he walked home to get help. I hate to think what might have happened if we were not a Reiki family! An interesting side effect: during my initial Reiki session I was so upset that by the poor service from his doctor's office that I determined I would get a job with my daughter's employer, a well-known HMO. I was hired, and started, within a matter of weeks, all thanks to the effects of Reiki energy. Jeanne Wolfe
Reiki Heals Depression and Back Injuries
In 1978, I had a very bad accident at work, which resulted in many problems in my back, stretched muscles, herniated discs, arthritis, pinched nerves, and more. I spent a lot of time at chiropracters, Drs. pain pills, and the like. In 1992, I slipped and fell on a patch of ice as I was leaving work, a different job in an office as I could not do any physically demanding job for all these years. More herniations, pain a broken arm and another trauma to contend with. I spent nearly 2 years in bed, depressed, many pills to numb the pain, and was quite a mess. Then I went to a high school reunion, as my friend urged me to, and she helped me have the strength to go. She told me about taking Reiki, and explained what it was. Desperate to be helped without pills, we both took the class and I could not believe the difference!!!!! It was like a miracle. My strength got better, my depression lifted, and positive energy began, letting go of the negative feeling I had for so long! I am not fully healed, but can walk, even swim a bit, take an arthritis aqua class, WALK A TREADMILL,(WHICH IS A MIRACLE), 15 to 20 minutes a day, I also do not eat much red meat, I cannot believe the difference!!!! A miracle indeed. I have Reiki II and practice on self and others and everyone I touch feels so wonderful and transformed by it. I cannot speak enough of this great art. It will always be a great part of my life. I will be taking more in the future. Respectfully, Bonnie Kemp, Kingston, PA
Heart Healed
On 23 October 2001, my 60th Birthday, I had a heart attack. A few days later after an angiogram showed severe blockages requiring 5 by-passes and lots of scaring from previous heart attacks which I didn’t know I had. On the 1st Thursday of November I returned to where I had learned my Reiki and that night 10 people gave me a joint healing for ½ hour and again the following week, (there wasn’t much room for any more hands). Add on to that what my friend and I did I sure copped heaps of Reiki. On 10 December 2001, when I was opened up to get the By Passes, The surgeon noted that my heart had healed itself as the scaring was not there. My girlfriend and I couldn’t believe what he said. But we were very happy. I am convinced that it was Reiki that did the trick. I have since had the scaring re-checked from another angiogram and when I received two Stints into one of the new grafts as it had become blocked. Believe me, with what I have been through this news convinced me that Reiki is no scam. I am a true believer and I am now back to walking 3-4 miles every 2nd day in one hour. I will soon be doing my Masters and I will be out there spreading the power of Reiki to those who wish it. Reiki, Wonder Drug. John Lincoln
Severe Injuries Healed
My story is very simple, and starts about three months ago, on the island of Lanzarote when a young boy of 15 years was on a motor bike. He was hit going around a roundabout at night. His injuries were both legs and both arms broken, both lungs punctured and then one lung removed, part of his liver removed, fractured neck, and he was on a life support machine. The doctors gave him a 5% chance of living.
Three days after the accident I sent out requests for Reiki on the Internet, and I set up a Reiki circle here in Lanzarote. I went into all the bars along the front and asked that on the following Sunday at 8 o’clock if everyone could light a candle and send out some nice thoughts of help. The following week he came off the machine, two weeks later he was transferred back to Lanzarote and out of danger. A further week later he was out of the hospital all together, and three months down the line he is up and about 95% back to normal. So he went from a 5% chance to live to 95% healed in three months. I wanted to finish by saying thank you to all the Reiki healers out there that sent out healing, and to all those that sent out love. God bless all and keep up the good work, Debbie.
