FREE International Center For Reiki Training Home Page Beth Gray received her mastership in 1976 from Mrs. Takata and was one of several masters first initiated by her. She also received a special technique from Takata that is part of the Reiki II initiation. This technique gives practitioners clairvoyant ability! An article about Beth Gray including additional information about this technique is in the spring Issue of the Reiki News Magazine. Beth was a very powerful healer and teacher and we honor her contribution to Reiki. Following is a special message she sends to all Reiki practitioners: Greetings to all of you! In this difficult time in the world, it is my prayer and wish that we all may remember that we are made of and by Universal Love. May all practitioners of Reiki flow with peace and healing love. Let us issue a silent meditation to love and truth and peace and beauty that they make themselves at home in our hearts and in our world. Let us release all the troubles that seem to run rampant like a plague, and realize they are caused by the ego, which is an illusion. Make a decision that you will initiate and continue with the process of forgiveness. Until one is committed there is hesitancy; the moment one definitely commits oneself, providence moves too, and a whole stream of events issues from the decision which no one could have dreamt. But this process begins in your dream. So dream the dream of
your heart, In Joy, Send Reiki for World Peace by William Lee Rand The world is in need of healing and calls out for our help. Let us think of all the people of the world and all the world leaders and send them Reiki on a daily basis. Especally, let us focus on the events in Iraq and ask that the highest good will take place for all concerned. We know that the intelligence that resides within Reiki has the wisdom to guide the situation in Iraq into a more harmonious outcome. Therefore I request that each of us take some time each day to send Reiki to President George Bush, Tony Blair, Saddam Hussein, the people of Iraq, and all those concerned with the situation. Remember, when doing so it is important to set your own ego and personal energy aside and to turn the situation over completely to the loving healing power of Reiki. Think of the affect this will have if hundreds or even thousands of Reiki practitioners focus Reiki healing energy on the situation every day. Certainly it will reduce suffering and create a greater level of peace for Iraq and the whole world. Thanks so much for your help. Keeping Reiki Free - in New York and other States by William Lee Rand The value of Reiki as an alternative/complementary healing method is becoming more and more apparent to the general public. In fact, it seems like just about everyone either has Reiki or has heard of a friend or other acquaintance that has it or has heard it mentioned before. Not only is this causing an increase in the use of Reiki by independent practitioners, but it is also fostering the increased use of Reiki in hospitals and clinics. While there is no statistics available as far are I know, from the communication I have received over the past, Reiki is being offered in hundreds if not thousands of hospitals across the country. This increased use especially in professional settings has brought the question of government regulation of Reiki to the attention of many people and groups. Some have started to think of Reiki in the same way they think of other medical practices and have suggested that it needs to be regulated and licensed. In addition, the current medical practice act that was passed in most states many years ago is so broad that technically, Reiki is considered a medical practice and therefore requires that it be practiced only by licensed health care providers. Note that this law is currently in place, but rarely enforced. However, the fact that it exists places all Reiki practitioners under an unnecessary threat that could be used if someone chooses to do so. This has happened with a few other alternative/complementary practitioners with devastating results. Remember, the purpose of a law is to protect the public from harm. Since Reiki does not cause harm, there is no need to create laws requiring that Reiki be licensed or regulated by the government.
Because of this and the fact that the medical practice act does already exist, and since other groups are considering creating government licensing of Reiki, something must be done to protect ourselves from this threat. Several states have passed laws exempting alternative/complementary practitioners including Reiki practitioners from the medical practice act. These laws are beneficial to Reiki practitioners as they prevent the government from harassing us and make the practice of Reiki without a license a legitimate legal activity. The legislation recently passed in California is a good example of this. I suggest you carefully read this short bill as it is a good model for legislation that protects Reiki practitioners and also protects the client. New York Florida National Organization Reiki Retreat Rock Hill, NY - Labor Day Weekend August 29-September 1, 2003 Come to our Reiki retreat! Last year we had 250 friendly and enthusiastic Reiki people who represented many of the various lineages and schools of Reiki from around the country including some students from other parts of the world. It's a great experience to be with so many healers and to exchange hugs, Reiki sessions and healing stories. Many lasting friendships formed. This year we are featuring Walter Lübeck, one of the most prolific Reiki authors and one of the world's best Reiki teachers. He will be presenting several mini-workshops including Rainbow Reiki crystal work, advanced aura/chakra healing, and a special trance drumming session. This last session will be really exciting as Walter is one of the most amazing drummers I have every met. Also included is Ulla Suokko a flautist who will provide several presentations including playing background music for our Reiki exchange sessions. She did this last year and we had 20 tables set up with over 120 people all giving and receiving Reiki together in one big room! Also William Rand will be presenting Japanese Reiki Techniques, Meet your Reiki guides, and Reiki for world peace. Michael Arthur Baird will be presenting Reiki drumming, and a guided meditation. Laurelle Shanti Gaia will be presenting a Reiki crystal and soul breathing mini-workshop and meditative journeys into the Reiki energy and symbols. We will also have a dance on Saturday night, and many other wonderful activities. Also, the camp has lots of hiking trails, a small lake with canoes and row boats, a big heated swimming pool and lots of other recreational possibilities.

Does Reiki have a connection to the Universe? When we think of the vastness of the Universe--the seemingly unlimited number of stars and galaxies and worlds, the creative processes taking place, the tremendous distances, the billions of years it has existed, and the unknown mysteries it must contain--we are awestruck. The wonder of the Universe goes far beyond our ability to comprehend. And yet, when we contemplate the wonder of ourselves and the fact that the Universe is mirrored in our own minds, there is a feeling that the Universe exists within us as well. When we think of the creative power that manifested the Universe and all of life, which in turn has lead to our own existence, we can begin to appreciate how completely we are a part of the Universe and all of its forces, both known and unknown. In the Reiki Ryoho Hikkei (Dr. Usui's Reiki handbook), Dr. Usui states: ". . . Reiki Ryoho is an original therapy which is built upon the spiritual power of the Universe." We can ask, what is the spiritual power of the Universe that he is speaking of, and what allows us to have access to it? In what way are we connected to this power? We Are Star Dust . . . . . . . In the same way that all the elements of life were created in an exploding star and streamed out into the Universe to create life, so too does the spiritual energy of the Universe come streaming out of our hands when we give Reiki, and it too contains all the elements of life. The Universe resides within us, and we bring forth its potential and help it move more quickly toward its goal when we allow Reiki to flow through us. The heart is perhaps the most important organ in the physical body and the heart chakra is likely the most important part of the energy body. Love is the central theme of the heart and it is through love that we absorb and utilize all the experiences of life in a healthy way. The article Healing the Heart by Walter Lübeck provides deeper understanding about the relationship between the physical heart and the heart chakra and gives advice on how to use Reiki along with diet and other methods to heal the heart. Being able to give a professional Reiki talk is an important skill for the promotion of ones Reiki practice. The article Speaking Up About Reiki by Diane Shewmaker provides a very through description of everything you need to do to develop and present a Reiki talk. This is a well written article and will be very helpful to anyone wanting to speak about Reiki before a group. The attunement process is the heart of Reiki training and understanding its importance and how it works is necessary if we are to derive the greatest use of this wonderful gift. In The Attunement Experience, by Penelope Quest insight into the spiritual nature and energetic workings of the Reiki attunement process helps us appreciate this important and necessary experience. Harmony between all Reiki teachers and groups is needed if we are to effectively provide the healing the planet so desperately needs. Not only does this have value for the health of the Reiki community as a whole, but when one is in this state of mind and takes action to promote harmony between oneself and the other Reiki practitioners and teachers in ones area, ones own Reiki practice will improve as well! Harmony Between All Reiki Groups by William Lee Rand provides examples and outlines the steps one can take to help you work cooperatively with the other Reiki people in your area. Also included in this issue is a new movie review column, a story about helping others in India and our regular Reiki stories section. Back Issues Reiki Heals Tumor When she was diagnosed with this tumor she could not be operated on because the tumor had a bubble around it and they feared it would break open and if it's cancer it would spread. The following week after giving her a Reiki treatment the doctor discovered the tumor was actually soft and could be safely removed through some type of suctioning through her belly button. The following week she had a hemorrhage and the doctor told her the tumor was gone. He could not explain it except to say the body sometimes heals itself. I am pleased to say she is now healthy with no signs of the tumor. But what is now growing is a healthy baby girl expected in May. Kathleen Nolan Wonderful Reiki Healing! The Loving, Healing Power of Reiki An ankle problem that persisted for weeks was healed completely in one session. And then, just the other day, she informed me that she was having MAJOR back pain - she had taken 6 to 8 extra-strength Ibuprofen just so she could get through her day. She had no time for an in-person treatment, so I offered to send her distant Reiki. In the process of sending Reiki I could sense her pain deeply rooted in her aura. I even felt a little discouraged but I tried to be focused and do what I felt guided to do without concern for the outcome. I called her after the treatment, and she said she felt "uplifted." We discussed other treatment options as she was considering chiropractic. I told her to follow her intuition and to allow the healing to unfold. When I spoke to her two days later she said the pain was pretty much GONE. Over and over again I am amazed. I have attuned my new friend
to level one and right away she began to offer Reiki to friends
of hers. She was so ripe to receive this gift in such a space
