Reiki and Affirmations

We are alive because ki or life energy flows through us and when left alone, it is directed by the innate intelligence of the organs and tissues of the body. When this is the case it is called genki which mean original ki or healthy ki. When a person is young it is mostly genki that governs ones health. However, ki is influenced by our thoughts and feelings and as a child’s mind develops the functioning of ones ki is affected by the ever more sophisticated nature of one’s thought processes. If one has positive healthy thoughts, ones health will be enhanced, but if one has negative, unhealthy thoughts, byoki or unhealthy ki will develop. Byoki will surround various organs and tissues of the body diminishing their function and causing unbalance and weakness in one’s health. If the byoki persists, it can lead to illness. This process is the cause of most health problems.
The creation of byoki can also cause dysfunction in other areas of life. It can have an adverse affect on our relationships, our career, our ability to learn and to enjoy ourselves and on our ability to solve problems, achieve goals and to be happy and successful.
Reiki is life energy that is guided by higher consciousness. It heals by flowing into a person’s energy field, locating areas of byoki and causing them to break up and be dispelled and replaced by genki. In this way, Reiki can be used to improve and heal any area of one’s life that isn’t functioning in a healthy way.
A method to help Reiki be even more effective is the addition of positive affirmations. Since thoughts affect ki, a positive affirmation will enhance the formation of healthy ki. When the affirmation is thoughtfully created using both logic and intuition in a complementary way and empowered by Reiki it will be highly effective in quickly bringing about the reversal of any unhealthy situation.
The Process
The following is a method of creating a powerful healing response for any illness or condition. It can also be used to heal and improve any area of life and to achieve goals. Since Reiki is involved it will always produce a healthy positive result.
- Take a moment to draw Reiki symbols on your hands if you have them. If not just use Reiki without symbols. Say a prayer asking that the highest most illumined source of guidance and healing will be with you to facilitate this process. Give thanks for all the help you’ll be receiving.
- Decide on the illness or condition or area of life you’d like to heal. Create a written description of it.
- Formulate a positive affirmation concerning the healing or help you’d like to experience. To do this, first say a prayer asking that your logic and intuition be guided by the highest most illumined wisdom and that they will work together in harmony to create an effective affirmation. Usually the most powerful affirmation will be one that is simple and direct and one that is opposite to the unwanted condition. As an example, if you’ve been looking for a job and been unable to find one, an affirmation that is opposite to this experience might be: “I find a job easily and quickly now.” If it is an illness or medical condition, depending on the type of illness or condition, you might use an affirmation similar to these: “My liver is completely healthy and filled with life.” Or “My heart is as strong and healthy and vital as when I was 18.” Or “Every part of my body is vibrantly healthy now.” If it is a goal or your life purpose you’d like help with affirmations similar to these will be helpful: “I easily achieve my goal with the love and grace of God (or Reiki, or the Universe or any similar term you feel comfortable with). Or “Every area of my life is completely guided by the love and grace of God.”
- Now think of your issue and ask to be guided to the area of your body or energy field where the byoki that is causing the issue or difficulty or unwanted condition exists. This area may not be in the location where the physical symptoms exist, so it’s important to bypass your logic and allow your intuition to guide you. One way to find the byoki is to notice if you feel stress or uncomfortable feelings in an area of your body when you think of your issue as byoki will cause these feelings.
- Once you have formulated your affirmation and discovered the location of the byoki affecting the condition you will be ready to start. Draw Reiki symbols on your hands and especially the mental/emotional symbol. If you don’t have Reiki symbols, straight Reiki without symbols will work. Then place your hands on or over the area where the byoki is located and begin to repeat your affirmation.
- Continue with step 5 for 10-15 minutes. Repeat this every day or up to several times a day if possible. By doing this you’ll eliminating the byoki that has been creating the unwanted condition and replacing it with healthy ki which will attract the healthy condition in your body or in your life you intend.
This is a powerful technique that will rapidly produce healing and positive change in your life. Use it on yourself or with your Reiki clients and you’ll be happily surprised by the results! Life is a process of change which can be guided to create healthy improvements in your life. By healing yourself you’ll be contributing to the positive transformation of the planet which is leading to peace on Earth. May you be deeply blessed by the wise use of you healing skills.

Healing Our Ancestors

Over the years I have practiced Reiki I have become keenly aware of the energetic effect that my ancestors have on who I am and also of the energetic effect I have on my children. Values, attitudes, beliefs, and unresolved emotional distress patterns are often passed on from parent to child over many generations. This can take place through verbal and non-verbal communication, including feelings and body language that express family values and beliefs, and in a more open way, through rules and advice. Young children are very attuned to these emotional and verbal cues and tend to absorb them into the fabric of their identity. There is also some evidence that attitudes can be passed on genetically. Therefore, I am aware that I make choices in my life based in part on the beliefs, experiences, feelings, and thoughts of my ancestors. Fortunately, restrictive patterns tend to diminish in strength with each generation as people heal to a certain extent before passing these patterns on.
These patterns may be continued in another way when ancestors present themselves to us as spiritual guides. They may have good intentions; however, they may also be attempting to maintain restrictive family patterns or values. Such attempts may be based on their own unresolved distress patterns. In this way, restrictive patterns that were passed on from one’s parents may be strengthened as a result of one’s ancestors acting as spirit guides. Our personal work with Reiki can help in these situations, if the ancestor is open to healing. And their healing will, in turn, help release us from the restrictive patterns as well.
Considering the challenges and triumphs of our ancestors can help us understand how or where we are personally affected by their values and beliefs. I learned that many of my issues involving self-worth, prosperity, and work ethic go back through many generations. Although I have made much progress in healing them, I still see traces of these issues in my life daily. I regularly send Reiki to my guides, masters, and ancestors. Through this process I am developing clarity regarding healing issues that some of my ancestors did not complete in their lifetime, and which were subsequently passed on to me.
Many of our parents and grandparents lived through the Depression in the 1930’s, and perhaps some of you reading this did also. Living in that time created much fear related to the ability to survive. It also brought up self-worth issues for many and created a workaholic behavior pattern in some. Many people felt powerless to change their circumstances. Whenever there is a sense of powerlessness it is based on a fundamental belief in separateness from the Divine, or perhaps abandonment by one’s own spiritual guidance. Only through reconnecting with that personal Divine power can such a belief system be healed.
One day while I was sending healing energies to my ancestors I felt a particularly strong connection to my paternal grandmother. She lived the nightmare of the Depression when she and her family lost everything they owned except a piece of land in Illinois. For a period of time they lived in a small barn on their property, and they farmed the land to feed themselves and help their neighbors. The earth sustained them through this difficult time, and ultimately they were able to re-establish financial stability. However, this experience further instilled several beliefs in my grandmother, who had already lived through some very challenging times as a child. During this healing session I felt her fear, sense of hopelessness, and unworthiness, and I also felt the anchoring of the belief that life is hard, and that we must work very hard for everything we receive.
Although my life as a child was materially much easier than my grandmother’s, and my parents did their best to provide for all of our needs, the energetic essence of my grandmother’s fears and beliefs were passed on to me. In order to provide for our family, my parents “worked very hard,” and sacrificed many of their personal needs. Although my parents are both basically positive people, I still received messages from them or other family members such as: “Life isn’t always fair.” “Only hard work and perseverance win out.” “If you are going to do something, do it right.” “Always put other’s feelings before your own.” “In the end you can only count on yourself.” And so on.
Conversely I received the message that “You can do anything, if you set your mind to it, maintain a positive attitude, and act with honesty and integrity.” This last message is one I choose to hold as a personal truth; the rest I am re-patterning with the help of Reiki and soul clearing work. Reiki is a tool that helps us reconnect to our true personal power, Divine Love, thus it assists us in healing any sense of separation. Reiki has taught me the following technique to assist in healing myself, my ancestors, and future generations.
Reiki Generational Healing Technique
1. Prepare yourself as you would for any Reiki treatment.
2. State a prayer of intention to be a clear channel for Reiki to flow through and that your personality and ego stand aside. Give thanks that the healing energy flows to you, your guides, masters, your ancestors, and future generations for the highest good of all, and with soul permission of those willing to heal.
3. Invoke the Distant Healing symbol and the Mental/Emotional symbol with the intention of creating a bridge of light through the generations that came before you and those that are yet to come. When you feel this link you may be guided to activate the Power symbol or some of the Reiki Master and Karuna Reiki ® symbols. Bring in any Reiki energies that you feel guided to work with. Then simply let the energy flow.
4. Channel energy and meditate for as long as it feels appropriate. Be aware of anything you feel, sense or think. Often messages will come to assist you in understanding any particular ancestral programming that you may be holding onto that is ready to be released.
5. When the healing/meditation session feels complete, give thanks to the Divine, your guides, masters and ancestors for sharing in the healing, and acknowledge that the healing will continue. Then close the session as you normally do, perhaps with a Power symbol.
6. Do this as often as you can until you notice shifts in your thoughts, feelings, body, or circumstances. I strongly suggest that you do this daily for 21 days for the most magnificent results.
I have been working with this technique for many years. Recently I had a spontaneous experience of connecting with an ancestor. I was facilitating a Reiki Master class. During the class I led a meditation journey into each of the Reiki symbols, an exercise I have conducted hundreds of times. As part of this meditation we breathe a symbol to life and then inhale its essence into our heart. We then allow the energy of the symbol to permeate our physical body, as well as our etheric field. During this process we become more adept at discerning the specific vibrational frequency each symbol holds. Ultimately regular practice of this meditation deepens one’s relationship with each of the symbols.
As facilitator of this meditation journey, I always have a very pleasant experience, but during this most recent class, my experience was much deeper. We had worked with the CKR to clear our physical body and illumine our cells. With the help of SHK, shadows within our emotional body that represented repressed and/or unhealthy emotion were identified and cleared. SHK also helped us identify unhealthy mental patterns, thoughts and beliefs. Once those patterns were located, SHK began the process of clearing, and we consciously began the process of reprogramming with healthier, more positive thoughts.
Then when we began our work with HSZSN, we connected with the origin of all. With intention from this state of awareness, we were able to sense the energy of anything that ever has been, is now, or ever will be. We traveled and beamed Reiki into moments in time that were ready to heal. Once we had done our personal work in this way, we then offered help to our ancestors.
I felt a particularly strong flow of energy for several moments, and then suddenly I felt as though a powerful wave of light was flowing through and washing over me at the same time. Suddenly I heard a voice, which I had not heard for many years, say, “Oh….THANK you! If I had known I could do that, I would never have been so afraid.” The voice I heard was that of my grandmother. I was overcome with emotion because of the strong sense of connection I felt with her. I also physically felt as if every cell in my body was being realigned, and even now, I still have moments where something shifts, and I know it relates to that experience. Since I first began to work with Reiki, it has become much easier for me to let go of worry. However, since my experience during this meditation, it seems that my recognition of a concern and the transmutation happen simultaneously.
Allowing the Reiki energy to assist and guide us in all that we do allows us to enter places within our being and dimensions of consciousness beyond anything we may have previously experienced. Sharing healing and joy with our ancestors allows the essence of their transformation to flow into our life and forward into the lives of future generations. In so doing we are creating a new paradigm of love, joy, peace, and prosperity for all beings.

A Peaceful Reiki Transition

My journey with Sarah (A Humbling Encounter; Reiki News Magazine Winter 2009) came to an end on Thursday 4th March at 1145pm. The previous three weeks had seen her condition deteriorate more quickly and by the close of February it was clear that her time for transition was drawing near.
I spent an increasing amount of time with her and on the final week gave her all my available time, shedding most plans from my diary that could be postponed for another day. Reiki helped us both, I think, as it allowed me to feel positively focused and Sarah to be relaxed and apparently free from anxiety. At the start of her final week, I placed all the Reiki symbols in the room, asking that the energies provide comfort, protection and healing, not only for Sarah, but for everyone who entered her room. There was a peacefulness surrounding her despite the increasing physical difficulties that her body encountered in the last few days.
Since my last article written in September 2009, Sarah although weaker, stabilized and appeared to be more able to enjoy company. To everyone’s delight she was able to be dressed, and join the others in the lounge for the Christmas party, secure in the vantage place of her specially adapted chair. She was able to repeat this soon afterwards, but by mid-January it was clear that her illness was now progressing once again. Until the day before her death, she continued to respond to us, usually with a smile and big gazing eyes. She had a great need to have contact, and liked to be holding someone’s hand as much as possible.
On the last evening, I checked her chakras once again, using a pendulum and found that only her heart and crown showed any activity. Her crown chakra was open wide, and hot. At 1145pm while I was standing beside her, I saw a sudden change in her color and to my amazement saw lots of green “mist” appear to come out of her chest. This moved upwards and as it reached her head I sensed a surge of Reiki around me, then suddenly it was all completely gone. I got no movement at all from the pendulum when I rechecked her crown chakra, and my intuition told me that she had completed her transition. I stood for a few minutes, and had the real sense of being alone in the room. Sarah’s physical body continued to slowly wind down, finally becoming still at 7.20 on the Friday morning.
Sarah’s funeral, held a few days later was attended by what seemed to be everyone who had ever known her. It was a wonderful uplifting summary of her life and meant a lot to all those who had their own lives enriched by her great love of life and people. For me, it brought closure to my remarkable journey with her and filled me with a deep sense of gratitude for having shared part of her life -and for the wonderful gift of Reiki that brought Sarah so much comfort in her final year.

A new web site has recently been launched that provides important resources for those interested in Reiki research. The site features a listing and summaries of all Reiki research studies published in peer-reviewed journals. The summaries have been produced using the Touchstone Process; a highly rigorous method of analyzing all the studies in a particular field. Its application to Reiki research is noteworthy.
The Touchstone Process was developed by the CRR staff, a group of seven doctorally prepared researchers and five nurses and is unique to the field of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. The site also includes articles on research study design, how to write case reports, documenting Reiki sessions, insurance reimbursement for Reiki sessions and the scientific basis of Reiki. A consultation service is also offered for those wanting to conduct Reiki research. In addition, the site contains detailed descriptions of the Reiki programs offered in 64 hospitals across the US.
The site is free although it is necessary to register to use the information on the site.

I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.
The next World Peace Card group meditations have been scheduled for Wednesday, August 11 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.
Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future.
All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people.
Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace.
We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you'll be blessed by this experience as well.

Reiki Heals Broken Arm
My name is Mary and I'm a Massage Therapist. One of the receptionists got in a car accident and broke her arm. She couldn't go 1 week without taking care of her baby son; I think that was one of the biggest issues she had. She asked me (begged was more like it) to do some work on her arm, complaining about her hand hurting. I told her to hold it at the level of her heart. But she had heard through my studies on Reiki about how it’s been known to heal broken bones. So I sat at the end of the desk where she was at. Held her arm where the fracture was (about 15 - 30 min). She was telling me how it had felt like sandpaper or a emery board we use on our nails being used on it inside. She ended up going to E.R. that night for anxiety issues. Called me to go and pick her up. When she got in my car she told me what the x-ray had showed; a bruised arm instead of a fracture. I couldn't believe it since I had just gotten attuned about 6 months prior. I was in shock and had this weird spooky feeling. She showed me the papers and she was telling the truth; such a "strange" feeling on healing a broken bone. So as people were looking for a Massage Therapist who was attuned to Reiki she was telling them about how I had fixed her arm. I now have many more people coming to me for Reiki. And those who didn't know that I am a energy worker come to see me for Disc issues, some say that the problem goes away like they have never had the problem before. Reiki IS #1 in my book!!! Reiki Ends Alcohol Addiction
I thought I'd share my Reiki experience. Having been a hard-core drinker since I was a teenager, drinking a bottle and some beers every day until I was 35, it eventually caught up with me. After injuring my back, I
had unlimited time to drink. I moved to Thailand with the intention of drinking myself to death; kind of like the movie LEAVING LAS VEGAS. In Thailand I was soon drinking between 2-3 fifths of 90 proof rum per day (plus beer. I did this for nearly a year. I had no intention of quitting but sought out a Reiki treatment just to alleviate my pain. I went to Cory's place and 3 treatments later I was no longer addicted. Of course I became interested in Reiki and am now a Reiki master myself. (In William Lee Rand lineage, through Cory.) Not only did Reiki cease my addiction, it actually cured my alcoholism! These days I can drink if I want. I only drink "good stuff" and rarely do I drink at all. But I can and do when I want; I’m free to do as I please. I have many more Reiki stories, a few just as "miraculous"! But that's my big one; Reiki saved and transformed my life. Michael Matweyou III
Reiki Changed My Life
Dear William, I was guided to Reiki in 2007 and it has changed my outlook on everything in life. I practice with the Reiki meditation CD regularly and ask for any and all blockages to be removed. I was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer in March and am currently going through internal and external radiation treatments as well as chemo. I am into week 3 with 3 more weeks to go. Reiki self treatments as well as distance healing have been helping me coast through with minimal side effects and helping to keep my attitude positive. Reiki helps me to live day by day and sometimes moment by moment. It has helped me to realize that this cancer is a life sentence, not a death sentence. I get a chance to bond with others with cancer and help them to smile.
I was coming out of a 6 hour surgery 4 weeks ago to have my lymph glands removed. When I came out of the general anesthetic, the nurses were complaining that around the area of my bed it was hot and uncomfortable. They said it was like a pocket of heat around my bed and yet when they moved away, the temperature was fine. They even went so far as to call the heating guy and he said the temperature of the room was the same and that nothing had fluctuated on the thermostat. Everyone I knew in my Reiki circle was sending to me that day. I knew it was the Reiki and smiled to myself. I was also supposed to experience major swelling in my face from being flipped during the surgery but I did not have any. The hospital was supposed to be a 4 day stay...I went home the next day. I was taken off my morphine drip early and did not need any additionally prescribed narcotics for pain relief. The first woman who I gave a Reiki treatment to was in the room next to me and the head nurse knew my neighbor and her daughters. Another Reiki lady that I am friends with knew a woman who was up there too. I had Reiki on my side through all of these experiences and I am ever so thankful. I cannot even imagine where my mind, body, or soul would be if I did not have Reiki on my side. It touches every aspect of my life. I am learning many lessons and will continue to learn and look forward to teaching others from these experiences. I will receive my Reiki Master certificate after my treatments are over. All of my training has been taught through your texts. I am thankful for my Master/teacher and for all of the wonderful information that you have provided for us.
