Create a Happier, Healthier Life with Reiki
by William Lee Rand

There is no need for you to live a dull, humdrum life, or a life devoid of joy and satisfaction, or a life in which the most important and cherished parts of who you are go unrecognized, unexpressed and unfulfilled. It's possible for you to take action and release yourself from the restrictions that prevent you from claiming the life you deserve, the life that deep inside you know the Universe wants you to live.

You are an amazing being, capable of creating and accepting healthy change within yourself and within your life. It's possible for you to experience personal growth, healing and transformation in a way that is exactly right for you so that you begin living a life of greater happiness, health and well-being.

Life by its very nature is a process in which change is constantly taking place. Many of these changes are actually opportunities that are often hidden from our awareness by our attitude toward them. However, once a person decides on a clear direction in which he or she wants to go, and persistently and openly looks for opportunities to move in that direction, it's as though blinders are removed from one's eyes and the opportunities become clearly apparent. In addition, our minds are like magnets and as we maintain our purpose, we attract to us additional opportunities that are often exactly what we need to move forward with our plans.

Definiteness of Purpose, Sustained Over Time
Always Produces Results

One of the most important principles of life is that we are reality generators. We are constantly creating the life we live through the attitudes, values and beliefs we hold that in turn guide our actions, or lack of action. Think about this. Your entire life is being created by your state of mind. This includes your method of livelihood, your income, your assets, the quality of your relationships including your friends and other people in your life, along with the home and neighborhood you live in and everything else that is being created by the kind of thoughts and feelings that take place within you. And you have the ability to change your state of mind and in so doing, change your life!

This is the "secret" understanding that has guided people throughout the history of the world to create the lives they desired to live and often to become people of great renown—if this is what they desired. By healing your self-image as well as your attitudes, values and beliefs, you will transform your life.

My 40 plus years of experience in the field of personal development and healing has demonstrated to me that this is true. And this idea has also been validated by hundreds of others who have improved their lives and written about how they did it. Improving your outer world starts by improving your inner world. This includes not just your conscious mind, but your subconscious mind—the part of yourself that you aren't aware of. And in fact this is true to such an extent that if you want to know what is going on within your subconscious mind, all you have to do is carefully look at what is going on in your outer world. Look at the people in your life; look at all of them including the ones you like and the ones you don't like, and you'll get an idea of the kind of energies that flourish within your subconscious mind. Who you are on the inside is an open book being displayed to you right before your eyes on a daily basis.

This idea might feel uncomfortable if there are people in your life you don't like. Sometimes people tend to blame those in their lives they don't like for holding them back, but actually, if we accept responsibility for attracting them or choosing them to be in our lives, we move from the position of victim to the possibility of becoming a victor. We move from a feeling of powerlessness to a feeling of empowerment. And this is true power, healthy power that allows us to gain power over ourselves, over who we are and what we can become, rather than the attempt to have power over others, which can never produce healthy results. Once you have taken back your power, the healthy thing to do is to forgive the people in your life you don't like. As you do this, an amazing thing happens—you'll also be forgiving those parts of yourself that attracted these people into your life in the first place. You'll be forgiving the parts of yourself that you don't like and by doing this, begin to like yourself more, too. As this process unfolds, the people you don't like will have less power over you; they'll affect you less and less. Over time, as you continue with this process, it is even possible that you'll begin to actually have love for them. This is a good sign as it also indicates that you'll be loving yourself as well. This is important because one of the most significant things you can do to become happier and healthier is to improve the quality of your friendships and relationships as well as your feelings toward yourself.

Reading this article and understanding what I'm saying is important, but in order to benefit from these ideas, you have to actually use them to make changes in your life. And if you are hesitating right now about actually taking action to change your life because the challenge to do so seems a little daunting, take heart—you have an ally waiting in the wings who is ready to come forward and assist you in making these changes. This ally is loyal and kind yet powerful, forgiving and wise, loving and skillful and can open doors for you that will make it easier to move forward into your new life. This ally is Reiki. Yes, Reiki energy is all of these things and more. Thousands of people have used Reiki to heal their lives, to transform themselves and do the wonderful things I've mentioned above. Reiki is a beautiful gift whose very purpose is to help you heal and become happier and healthier.

Below are instructions on how to use Reiki to realize your dreams. By following these steps you'll feel better right away and over time you'll see healthy changes taking place in your life—changes that are meaningful for you and bring you the things that are exactly right for you to become the person you've always wanted to be. It may take some time to put these instructions into practice, but believe me, it will be worth it.

  1. Take some time by yourself in a place where you will not be disturbed. Begin giving yourself Reiki. Use any symbols you feel guided to use, or if you don't have symbols, just use Reiki and it will work just fine. Say a prayer calling on the source of Reiki, or on God, or the Holy Spirit, or Jesus or any of the other fully Illumined beings to be with you and help you. Ask to be guided in this process in a way that will produce results that are entirely healthy and uplifting and empowered by the highest spiritual wisdom.
  2. Allow yourself to be open to new ideas and allow yourself to be guided by Reiki to be shown a condition or situation that would be healthy for you to develop in your life. You might find yourself thinking about an improvement in something you already have or are doing or something entirely new. Take your time in allowing your guidance to work and in making your decision, as it's important that you decide on something that is meaningful to you and will make you healthier and happier. Your goal may come to you right away, or it could come to you hours or days later while you're walking down the street or driving or relaxing or involved in some other activity. Or this may be something you've already thought about, and you will use this process to refine your goal or increase your resolve to achieve it.
  3. After you have received your goal, think of Reiki and allow it to flow as you create a statement that embodies your achievement of this goal. Your statement might be worded like this: I am empowered by Reiki in the creation of a happier, healthier life, or I am empowered by Reiki to develop a strong, healthy body, or I am empowered by Reiki to develop wonderfully healthy friendships and relationships, or whatever you have chosen as your goal.
  4. Write your statement on a small card. Carry the card with you, and each morning draw your Reiki symbols over the card (if you have symbols), place it between your hands and give the card Reiki. As you do this, repeat your statement over and over with a feeling of gratitude that it is fulfilled.
  5. Carry the card with you and throughout the day, whenever you have a spare moment, repeat the process listed above.
  6. It will also be necessary for you to create an action plan. This is a plan that contains things you need to do to achieve your goal. Ask Reiki to flow and guide you as you create your plan. Write out your plan and take time to think about it and modify your plan as your understanding of what is needed to accomplish your goal develops.
  7. Add your written plan to your daily ceremony of giving your statement Reiki energy.
  8. Follow your plan. This is the key to success with this process.
  9. If you have difficulty following your plan, or if you get stuck on any step in your plan, send Reiki to the step. Ask Reiki to help you decide if this is a good and necessary step or if it needs to be modified. Modify your plan only if this is your clearest and best thinking, but keep in mind that there may be some parts of your plan that are difficult, but necessary. Ask Reiki to heal and empower you to accomplish the step. The achievement of your goal may require that you learn new skills or develop a more positive attitude.
  10. Be aware that as you follow your plan, parts of yourself that oppose your goal may come up and begin trying to convince you that your goal isn't a good idea. You may begin to feel unworthy of achieving your goal or you may feel tension or uncomfortable feelings about your goal. Be aware that this is part of the healing process. These uncomfortable feelings are coming up so they can be dealt with, healed and released. Be sure to set aside extra time to use Reiki to work on these feelings. Remember that your outer world can only change as your inner world is healed. Healing any parts of yourself that don't want you to achieve your goal is a very important and necessary part of the process of achieving your goal.
  11. Develop a support system of people to help you heal issues as they come up and to deal with any stress concerning the achievement of your goal. These people can include other Reiki people to share sessions with, a massage therapist, a psychotherapist, an acupuncturist, a nutritional counselor, a cranial sacral therapist, close supportive friends to share your goal, plans and experiences with, etc.
  12. Also be aware that there may be people in your life who will not want you to achieve your goal. They may make invalidating statements to you about your goal, or make fun of you or try to discourage you. If you can convince them that this goal is right for you, then that is good, but if you can't then you need to stop talking with them about your goal; just keep it to yourself when around them. If they continue to discourage you anyway, you may need to consider not seeing those people any more. As you upgrade your life, letting go of friends and people in your life that don't support you is often a necessary part of achieving your goal.
  13. Use Reiki to make new friends who are positive and happy and support you in the achievement of your goal.
  14. Keep track of your progress by checking off the steps in your plan as you achieve them. Share your accomplishments with your supportive friends and celebrate them. One way to know if you are making progress is to look at your life. If your attitudes and beliefs about your life are improving and if the actual circumstances in your life are getting better, then you'll know for certain that your plan is working. This will inspire you to be even more enthusiastic about continuing with your plans.
  15. Read through these guidelines regularly. Doing so will reinforce your resolve, and you are also likely to see things you've previously missed or see them in a new, more meaningful way.
  16. In order to be successful, you must be persistent. Continue to follow this plan until you accomplish your goal.

If you have read to this point then you must be a person who wants to improve yourself. Life is an open book, which you are writing. Anything anyone else has accomplished, you can accomplish. A power resides within you that if accepted and acted on will fulfill your dreams. What is necessary is for you to decide to do it.

Reiki, Pay It Forward
by Laurie Goldstein

The client lies down on your table. The Reiki begins to flow and a beautiful session ensues. Your client is now blissfully relaxed and is even finding relief from a troublesome physical condition. The session concludes, and it is time to accept payment.

Some Reiki practitioners find collecting payment from a client a simple task. For others the exchange of money can be accompanied by uneasy feelings. As professionals we offer a valuable service to our clients that is undoubtedly worthy of compensation. Yet somehow the higher consciousness of Reiki can seem inconsistent with the material world of money.

In an effort to bridge this gap, I have found a method of moving the energy flow of the Reiki table into the payment process. I offer my clients the option to pay it forward.

It is really quite simple. When it comes time to pay, I remind my clients of my rate. I then explain they have the option to pay for some or all of my next client’s session as well. By covering the next client’s cost they not only make someone else’s day but also receive good karma and foster the flow of generosity in the world. In essence pay it forward offers an opportunity to ignite a ripple effect of positive energy that benefits all of us.

As so often happens, I received the inspiration for pay it forward while in the midst of a client’s Reiki session. Since I am generally not someone who quickly dives into change, I decided not to mention it to my current client on my table. I thought I would ponder it a bit and initiate it at a later time. However, it seemed The Universe had other ideas. When it came time to pay, my client wrote her check for more than the amount of the session. When I pointed out the discrepancy, she assured me it was intentional and a reflection of how much she enjoyed the Reiki. I then told her about my pay it forward inspiration during her session and excitedly thanked her for being my first participant.

Since then my clients have continued to pay it forward. In fact as of this writing I have more than a session’s worth of pay it forward funds. This means I am in the delightful position of explaining the pay it forward option and telling my clients that their session has already been covered by my previous client. The reaction to this news is always the same: a furrowed brow and a confused exclamation of “what?” I then kindly explain once again how pay it forward works and that they do not owe me anything. Their confused expression then turns to disbelief and then finally to joy.

My clients have been deeply touched that an anonymous individual wanted to cover the cost of their Reiki session. Thus far they have all chosen to pass this gift along to my next client by paying for my next individual’s session. Some day, perhaps sooner or perhaps later, an individual may choose to accept this lovely gift from my previous client and decide not to pay it forward. While I honestly do enjoy when my clients decide to build on this energetic link of treating my next Reiki recipient I do not maintain any expectation or attachment to their decision whether or not to do so.I also do not advertise the pay it forward option. All of my first-time clients are aware of my rate by the time they book their session. For most of these individuals, their time on my table is their first experience of the healing and relaxing effects of Reiki. I would rather they experience Reiki without any expectation or awareness that they may not need to pay the full amount. I prefer instead that they consider the pay it forward option within the context of the beautiful Reiki energy they have just received. To me, Reiki and pay it forward are all part of the same whole.

I fully support and encourage other Reiki practitioners to incorporate a pay it forward option into their own practices. Varying work arrangements and businessmodels may not allow this option to be feasible in some practices. However when pay it forward resonates and fits in with your business structure it can create a healthy connection between your clients that opens the heart and adds to the healing each receives from his or her Reiki sessions.

By embracing this tradition, my clients have built an energetic link to one another of kindness and generosity. I am the grateful steward of this link, and I now look forward to the payment process as much as I do to the Reiki session itself.

Reiki History Updated
Place it on Your Web Site

One of the facts about Reiki is that the practice didn’t start out in the West with an accurate history. There were many discrepancies in the story told by Takata Sensei and there were also difficulties in uncovering accurate information about the history. The difficulties included language, cultural and geographic barriers between Japan and the West as well as the fact Reiki went underground in Japan after World War II making it almost impossible even for the Japanese to learn Reiki.

However, as early as 1991, I began a search for an accurate history of Reiki and over time many discoveries were made. As more accurate information became available, I updated the history of Reiki in Reiki the Healing Touch. Over the last several years facts have emerged that provide important new insight into how Usui Sensei discovered, developed, practiced and taught Reiki. These new facts have come from research done in Japan by Hiroshi Doi, Tadao Yamaguchi, Hyakuten Inamoto and Arjava Petter. In August I completed an update of the history of Reiki which is included in a revised version of Reiki the Healing Touch. However, this new history is now available on the ICRT web site.

You have permission to copy and place this updated history onto your own web site – as long as you do not make any changes and use the whole document. To read the updated history or to place it on your web site click here.

Healing Migrane Headaches with Reiki
by Jo Brennan

For the migraine sufferer, life is constantly on hold. You never know when a migraine will strike, how fast it will hit you or how severe the symptoms will be. The headache can last from four hours to three days and the telltale signs of nausea, sensitivity to light and sound or changes in vision or hearing alone can be enough to disrupt your life before the pain even starts.

The goal of any migraine treatment is complete relief of pain and symptoms so that the client can return to normal functioning. As a massage therapist and Reiki practitioner, many migraine clients have come into my therapy room. Prior to practicing Reiki, my clients experienced no relief from traditional massage practices. When I say no relief, I mean it. I had a zero percent success rate in having the client leave my office with any sort of symptom reduction. I confess that I was doing a few things that contributed to this result. I was playing music, massaging muscles, moving their head around and I had a fountain on. This experience taught me a great deal about things to do and things not to do when working with a migraine client. After changing the treatment plan to a Reiki treatment and following a strict process that minimizes external stimulation during the treatment, my success rate of symptom relief changed to one hundred percent. Now, every client reports results of some relief from a pain reduction of at least five points on a 0– 10 scale to elimination of one or more of the accompanying symptoms all the way to complete relief and disappearance of the headache.

The process for a Reiki session for migraines is very easy and requires no advanced levels of training. In fact a chronic migraine sufferer can learn Reiki in a Reiki Level I class and reduce the symptoms long before the flare-up of the headache in many cases. My process consists of three parts modified for migraines: 1) the intake, 2) the treatment room preparation and 3) the treatment itself.

The intake process is much the same as anywhere: you ask the questions relating to what they would like special attention paid to today. I always ask (in a whisper or soft voice) if they know what their migraine triggers are. This will give you insight as to how close they are to finding out what the root cause or triggers are. If they are still challenged by this process then suggest keeping a headache journal and sharing it with their doctor and with you. Journal templates can be found easily online . I like this on:

Then I ask about what they are currently experiencing:

  • Current pain on a scale of 0– 10?
  • Are they in the pre-pain stage?
  • What symptoms are present right now?
  • Do they just know that it is coming because it is related to a known trigger such as monthly cycle or stress?
  • Are they currently light sensitive, movement sensitive or sound sensitive or all of the above?

Then I ask what their normal or past treatments have been:

  • oral medication
  • injections
  • chiropractic
  • massage
  • rest in a quiet dark place.

I then ask about the normal duration of their headaches and how long they have been suffering from migraines.

All this information helps both you and the client determine if Reiki is a successful treatment for them. You need to keep in mind that even in the pre-pain stage, many of the symptoms are affecting thought patterns, and after the session they may not remember that they were at a pain level eight beforehand. Finally, I ask if they have had Reiki before. If not, I give a brief explanation, making sure to include that I will not be putting any pressure on their head or moving them during the treatment. I also emphasize that if at any time they feel uncomfortable to let me know so that whatever is affecting them can be changed.

My treatment room is a beautiful place for Reiki. I am in a renovated former church and my room is on the top floor, which used to be the ceiling of the church. I have one of the original stained glass windows with the arch at the top as well as the ornate pillars and original light fixture right above the table. The energy in the entire building is spectacular. My table is also outfitted for maximum client comfort at all times. Three inches of temperature sensitive foam on top of the already soft massage table, a fleece heating pad, then only the thickest flannel sheets, followed by a soft fuzzy blanket. Even the pillow for under the knees is temperature sensitive foam instead of a bolster. When you get on the table you sink into pure comfort. The changes that I make when working with a migraine client compared to any other Reiki session are all also for the client’s comfort. I turn off the music and fountains and leave it silent. When there are other noises in the building, I turn on a white or pink noise machine to minimize the amount of distant voices or sounds that the client might hear. Next, I turn off all lights except three salt-rock lamps to make the room as dark as possible. I make sure everything that can ring or chime is off. Then I make sure there are no scented candles or aromatherapy oils around. Scents often trigger symptoms in a migraine sufferer. I know you love the soft music and smell of lavender so in a half hour, after your client leaves, you can turn the music back on and pull out the essential oils, but for now tuck them away and wash your hands with unscented soap.

The session itself is calming and peaceful and very simple. I like to keep the session to a 30 minute time frame because this seems to bring the client into the session in a relaxed state. When you tell people that they will be on the table for an hour, and they are not feeling their best, the anxiety level tends to increase. When they lay down I suggest letting me cover the eyes with an unscented eye pillow to block out light and put a rolled up towel under the neck if desired just for the feeling of stability. I set my intention to give relief that is needed in the moment and healing in the highest and greatest good of the client. I begin with the hand position directly over or slightly behind the ears while at the same time using Gyoshi Ho and sending Reiki with the eyes directly into the third eye of the client. I hold each position for five to seven minutes, the transitions are made as smoothly and subtlety as possible between positions and during the time of each position I try not to move or shift at all. My suggestion is to make sure my client is very comfortable also because shifting can make a chair or stool squeak. Unless I am guided to change for a particular client, the second hand position is over the crown with Gyoshi Ho still on the third eye. Then I will place my hands over the third eye and eye pillow, leaving just enough space to continue the Gyoshi Ho between the thumbs. The last position will be at the throat chakra with the hands pointing directly inward to the throat or hands facing slightly upward toward the upper cervical vertebrae— as before I also continue with Gyoshi Ho. The key is stillness but you need to be cautious that you do not fall into a deep meditation since you have turned off all things that ring and chime that might bring you back in a timely manner if you drift. As far as symbols, I use the Mental/emotional symbol and Power symbol in the Gyoshi Ho and vary the symbols in the hands based on guidance. When all the hand positions are complete, I do a Byosen Scan and Reiji-ho then ask my guides if this session is complete.

When the session is complete, I will ask “How are you doing” using the client’s first name, and letting her know I will be removing the eye covering at that point. You do not want to shock someone this relaxed by letting in the light without warning. I then let the client know I will leave the room, that she can take her time and that I will meet her with some water in the waiting area. This gives the client any time to re-orient and take all the time needed to get back up. If this is the first Reiki session for a migraine for this person, you need to remember that deep inside the expectation is little or no relief, and that she will be getting up very slowly and assess how she is feeling at each movement for herself. If you are in the room, the tendency is to rush this process and get off the table quickly, which is never good, even if you do not have a headache. I leave the room, thank my guides, clear my energy and get my client some water.

When the client opens the door, I first see how effective the session was. There is a new brightness in the eyes and relaxation of the facial muscles, a telltale sign that the client is feeling better. I always ask a client to let me know the pain scale she is currently at, then reminding the client of the number given before the session. This is where I have heard statements such as “My headache is gone; I will not need to give myself my shot.” or “I have never gotten this kind of relief from anything else.” When you hear these statements it warms your heart that you were able to be a part of this experience for someone. Although it is far from a scientific or double-blind study, I know that all of my clients have experienced some level of relief. This directly correlates with them spreading the word that if you have a headache, I am the one to see and Reiki is the thing to ask for. From a marketing standpoint I do not need to sell this service as I get calls every week from clients who have heard by word of mouth that I am the headache relief person. The other advantage is that my migraine clients will often come for a general Reiki session since there seems to be more time between headaches. I even have one client that has not had a repeat episode since the first session. I do let my clients know that taking a Reiki Level I class will give them the tools to do a self-treatment when symptoms return. Most of my clients decline, stating that my table is too comfortable to pass up, but take a class schedule just in case.

Just because someone has a migraine, does not mean that life needs to be on hold. A simple half hour Reiki session may be just what is needed. As a Reiki practitioner, you can help those with migraines more than you may have realized would be possible by relieving some symptoms and giving them the gift of being able to continue to live life to its fullest.

World Peace Card Meditation
Wednesday, January 16, 7:30pm

Future Dates

Wednesday - February 13, March 13 and April 13 at 7:30pm

You are invited to take part in the next World Peace Card Meditations. Please mark your calendar and forward this notice to all your friends.

Thanks for Your Help!

Because so many of you forwarded this email to your friends, there have been over 300,000 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been more than 315,000! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.

The next World Peace Card group meditations have been scheduled for Wednesday, January 16 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.

Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future.

All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people.

Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace.

We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you'll be blessed by this experience as well.

Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

Reiki Stories

Healing Severe Injuries
I am a new practitioner who worked with a client who had fallen from a ladder. This woman suffered serious injuries to neck vertebrae and back and had injuries to hands and arms. Both of her eyes were black and blue, and she had been bed-ridden for seven weeks.

I offered to give her Reiki treatments in hopes that it would aid in her recovery. She agreed but was apprehensive about the treatment process. The concept of having another person's hands on her was something that was scary to her. After the treatment, she called my house four days later.

When I heard her voice I didn't recognize it, but she sounded clear and joyful as she spoke about her progress. I felt I was witness to a miraculous healing and the look on my face was probably comical in its expression of joy and amazement. It bolstered my belief in what I will be able to accomplish in my life as a Reiki healer. My best to you all! George Chavez

Practitionner Healed While Giving Treatment
I was on my way home to meet with a woman that was coming to me for her second Reiki session. A half-hour before she came I fell outside in the most stupid way and hurt my elbow badly. My mother was visiting me and is a doctor. She looked at the wound and said that I had to reschedule my client and go to the hospital immediately because the hole was all the way to the bone in a way that it could not close by itself. Even though I could hardly move my hand, something inside me told me that I should keep my appointment in spite of my mother’s advice. The minute my client layed down I could feel a tingling in my arm and without it even hurting me a bit I went on. After twenty minutes I started to feel a very strange and strong tingling in my hand that seemed to be moving towards my elbow from many directions inside myself then a very strong feeling that my hand was white, very white. This went on for 10 minutes and then it was gone. The client felt as good as ‘ten horses’ (in her own words) and went happily home after we had a long talk. After she left I took the big bandage from my elbow and lo! there was nothing wrong with it. It actually looked like it would after two months later of healing! My mother and husband didn’t have one word and I, even today, have a hard time grasping it. I thank the divine and send love to you. Embla Dís

Reiki and Surgery
I would like to share a recent Reiki healing story with you. My mother had surgery recently and she received her very first Reiki healing session prior to undergoing her operation. I asked her to just be open and accept the healing energy. She was so relaxed and felt the warmth of the healing energy within minutes of receiving Reiki. She said she felt extreme warmth over her abdominal area where she was to be operated. I was able to give her Reiki before she received any anesthesia.

After her surgical procedure was completed, she was so alert and she couldn't believe how clear her mind was after the surgery was over. My mother has had several surgeries in the past and never woke-up so alert and relaxed. She also required less anesthesia during her procedure which again proves that Reiki given before surgical procedures allows most people to receive less anesthesia which leads to a more alert patient. She shared her Reiki healing story with everyone from her pre-op nurse to her surgeon and was so grateful to have received the healing energy. I am so blessed to have Reiki in my life and to be able to share the gift with others. Blessings, Ingrid Byles

Reiki and Brain Surgery
My sister underwent surgery to repair a small aneurysm at the base of her brain. The morning of the surgery she laid waiting in pre-op scared and nervous. Completely overwhelmed with fear she begged for someone to give her something to calm down. I stood up and began running Reiki energy to her heart and crown chakra's and in about 15 minutes I saw her begin to calm down. I asked her how she was feeling and she said she felt like someone had just given herf a sedative.

I continued to run energy to her until they came to get her for her surgery which was about an hour and a half. Afterwards when they wheeled her from the operating room she was completely alert and talking to us all the way to the ICU where she was to stay for observation. The nurses kept coming in and asking her if she had any pain and she said no she was fine. They couldn't believe how alert she was and they kept telling her if she had pain to let them know. She didn't take the first pain pill! The doctor's obviously expected her to have quite a headache as they sent her home with major pain killers.

She was doing so well in fact we had to continually remind her she had just had brain surgery and to take it easy! The whole procedure went as smooth as silk and I firmly believe it was due to the awesome healing power of Reiki! Blessings, Rita Johnson
