World Peace Card Meditation
Wednesday, January 28, 7:30pm
(based on local time in your time zone)

We thank those who have accepted our gift of the free World Peace Cards for helping to make the world a better place. So far, over 10,000 people have done so. I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you. If you haven't received your free World Peace Cards click here to download a pdf copy.

A group World Peace Card meditation has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 28 at 7:30pm (time is based on your time zone). All those who have received the cards are asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet and have a positive uplifting effect on all people.

Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace. It's not necessary for a person to have Reiki training to take part in this meditaiton.

We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you'll be blessed by this experience as well.

Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

Additional World Peace Cards

When printing the cards from this file, print page 2 first, then place this page in
your printer and print the image of the peace grids on the back.

Thank you for taking part in this group meditation.

Sincerely,

Healing Karma with Reiki
by William Lee Rand

“Karma” is a Sanskrit word, which in its simplest form means “deed.” In Hindu philosophy, karma specifically refers to the deeds of the ego and the effects of those deeds. In an ultimate sense, all actions carried out by the ego affect the universe, causing it to be temporarily out of balance. The law of karma states that, to maintain balance, the universe directs the effects of one’s actions to eventually return to oneself.

All actions of the ego carry with them a karmic tracer that is both in the action and its effects and in the ego that created the action. It is this karmic tracer, acting like a deed of ownership, that causes the action to eventually return to the creator. Rather than the action itself being of primary importance, it is the intention of the one creating the action that determines the kind of karma that is created. A healthy positive intention will lead to a healthy positive effect when the karma returns; the opposite is also true.

Often the time it takes for the karma to return is more than one lifetime. When this is the case, the person usually isn’t aware that he or she is the creator. When this happens it will usually appear to the person that fortunate and/or unfortunate events are randomly happening to them, when in reality these events are the return of their own actions. Karma is the basis of one’s destiny—the seemingly inevitableness of events in the lives of some people.

When one fails to recognize that unfortunate events take place as the result of one’s own actions, there can be a tendency to blame others for them and to seek revenge. This misunderstanding creates further karma which binds one more firmly to one’s actions and the necessity to experience them, thus limiting one’s free will and restricting one’s ability to develop spiritually. This is called the wheel of karma.

One method of freeing oneself from the wheel of karma is to experience all of life’s ups and downs, living through the pain and difficulty as well as the fortunate events in a state of humble acceptance. By doing this, one allows one’s karma to return to oneself without creating more karma. By following this plan, one’s karma is eventually balanced. However, this can be very difficult to do. In addition to being very time consuming, often taking many lifetimes, it can also be very painful. The resolution of even one serious issue can often require years of suffering and difficulty.

Many of the illnesses and debilitating conditions people have are karmic in nature, being caused by actions the person has taken in this life or in past lives. In some healing circles and spiritual groups it is said that the reason a particular client isn’t healing is that the illness or debilitating condition is karmic and therefore the person must experience it in order to balance their karma. And because of this, supposedly there’s nothing the healer can do about it.

This idea has some validity, but only if we remain in this level of consciousness. It’s important to keep in mind that no matter what you are trying to accomplish in life, whether it’s to heal a condition, solve a problem or make your dreams come true, there is always a higher way. This concept also applies to solving karmic issues. The idea that one must experience one’s karma in order to move forward on one’s spiritual path is only valid as long as one makes use of this limited method of dealing with karma. There is a higher path to karmic healing that allows one to fulfill the purpose of karma, to heal quickly, and to move forward on one’s spiritual path with greatly reduced suffering.

This higher method makes use of the grace of the Higher Power, often administered through an enlightened being. We are all one with all that is. This means that we are one with the Higher Power, and we are one with all enlightened beings. Because of this, enlightened beings know that we are part of them too. They also possess tremendous love, wisdom and healing skill beyond our ability to comprehend. They are more than willing to help us heal and wait for us to make the opportunity available to them.

Keep in mind that the Higher Power has given each of us free will. This is something that is honored and respected by all enlightened beings. Because of this, they are unable to help us heal unless we ask that they do so. There are many ways to do this. The following is one method that has proven itself to be effective.

This technique can be used to heal your own karmic issues and can also be used to help others. If you’ve worked on a healing issue for a while with minimal results, or if the issue goes away, but keeps coming back, there’s a possibility that the issue has a karmic origin. Your intuition may also let you know the issue is karmic.

While the action of karma maintains balance in the universe, its main purpose is to help us learn about ourselves and how the universe works. Once we learn the lesson, the karma is no longer needed. It’s possible to enlist the aid of an enlightened being to help us learn the lesson and to balance the karma for us. This is a wonderful gift; helping us heal and move forward on our path through life, learning and growing as souls.

Karmic Healing Technique

Preparation
1. Unless you already have a strong working connection with an enlightened being, it will be necessary for you to develop one. First you’ll need to decide which one you’d like to work with. One way to do this is by reading about some of them such as Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Mother Mary, Kuan Yin, St. Germaine, any of the archangels, etc. and then deciding on one you feel attracted to.
2. Once you’ve chosen an enlightened being to work with, begin sending Reiki to them. Do this every day as a meditation. You can use Reiki I energy to do this, or if you have any of the higher levels of Reiki, you could also use the Distant Healing symbol and Mental/Emotional symbol from Reiki II, or any other Reiki symbols you feel guided to use.
3. As you send Reiki, say a prayer asking the enlightened being to strengthen your connection to them for the purpose of assisting you in your healing work.
4. Do this every day for several weeks. As you continue, your connection will become stronger and stronger, and you’ll most likely begin to feel the presence of your enlightened being from time to time throughout the day. This will be a wonderful experience. At the end of this period, you’ll be ready to go to the next part.

The Technique
5. Once you’ve developed a strong working connection with your enlightened being, you’ll be ready to make use of your new healing partner. Don’t be concerned if you don’t feel a strong connection. If you’ve done the preparation as described above, the connection will be there even if you don’t feel it very strongly.
6. Decide on the issue you’d like to heal. This can be anything in your life that isn’t working well. It can include physical health issues, emotional and relationship issues, psychological issues, and spiritual issues.
7. Using the Distant Healing symbol if you have it, begin sending Reiki to your enlightened being. If you don’t have this symbol, simply think of your enlightened being and send Reiki.
8. As you send Reiki, say a prayer asking that the enlightened being help you heal your issue by balancing the karma and helping you learn the lesson.
9. After doing #7 & #8 for 5 minutes or so, direct your attention toward the issue you’d like to heal. Using the Distant Healing symbol, or if you don’t have this symbol, simply thinking about the issue, send Reiki to the issue. Do this for another 5-10 minutes.
10. Ask the enlightened being to heal the issue, including healing the karma associated with it. Ask that the karma be balanced and that you receive assistance in learning the lesson.
11. Continue sending Reiki for an additional 5-10 minutes or until you feel it’s time to end the session.
12. Be aware of any shift in your awareness or releasing of energy.
13. The lesson may come to you during the session or shortly after or could come to you in a daydream or a sleeping dream. Sometimes the lesson isn’t consciously learned, but is presented to and learned by parts of the subconscious. If this is the case, you may not have a strong conscious awareness of the lesson but may notice a positive change in your attitude toward those things connected to the issue.
14. Say a prayer of gratitude thanking the enlightened being for all the help and healing it has given you.
15. Repeat this process, if necessary, until the issue is completely healed.
16. Sometimes an issue is healed in stages. When this happens the issue will go away, and you’ll feel that it has healed, but later it appears to return. This doesn’t mean that the healed part is returning, but that another, deeper part is surfacing, ready to receive its healing. Simply continue with this technique until all the parts have been healed.

Being on a spiritual path is an exciting and rewarding experience. As we heal ever-deeper parts of ourselves, our outer world becomes more harmonious, healthy and prosperous. Let us be grateful for the many blessings that are available to us and rejoice in our ability to help others.

Reiki and the Wren
by Ursula Janiga-Price.

Wren stands up after Reiki healing

A few weeks after I completed my Level II Reiki class, my friend Linda called me to come to the aid of a wren. The wren had flown into her patio window and was lying stunned and helpless in her garden. She told me she thought the tiny bird had a pulse, and she wanted to see if Reiki could revive it back into flight. Linda had covered the wren with a tea towel and placed it on the ground, hoping it would recover from the shock of the impact.

When I arrived at Linda’s house, the wren was lying on its side, listless, with its head peeking out from under the towel. It managed to look straight into my eyes when I touched its head and back. I picked up the bird and held it gently between my hands, covering the entire tiny body. I was in awe of how beautiful this little bird was and immediately was guided to give Reiki under the wings and into the back just using my pinkie fingers. I could feel the Reiki energy flowing into the bird and warming up its shivering body.

I continued to give Reiki, and we watched as the little wren stood up on the palm of my hand and looked right into my eyes. I drew the Power symbol over its body and told the wren to fly as soon as it felt strong enough and was ready. About a minute later the wren stretched out its wings, once again locked eyes with me, and flew straight up into the air. It circled the garden, then came back and landed right in front of my feet. I bent down, gave it another little bit of Reiki and smiled at this most incredible little creature of God’s. I knew as it looked directly into my eyes again that it was thanking me. Linda and I both had watery eyes by now. The wren flew up around us, circling several times, then around the entire garden as if it were doing a wonderfully choreographed dance. As it flew out of sight we could still hear it singing!

Any doubts, fears or lack of confidence in my abilities with the healing energy of Reiki melted away that day. When I held the limp body of the little wren, I found myself doing what I was being guided to do without thinking about the process or technique. There was no time to waste. No time for all those questions that often popped into my mind about my ability to give a treatment. Nowhere in my Level I or Level II Reiki courses did we discuss hand positions for healing little wild birds that fly into windows. I had to rely on my Reiki hands to transmit the energy where it was needed in the wren’s body. I had learned that Reiki goes where it is supposed to in the person and just knew that it would also do the same for the little wren. As the Reiki energy was flowing through my hands, my heart and mind were filled with love and compassion for the little bird. It responded well to the caring and healing energy.

Those few minutes in the garden with a beautiful little bird taught me many things. God does send us messengers of all kinds, to help with our confidence issues and the limitations that we often put on ourselves. Listening, being open to all possibilities, and trusting in Divine guidance provides us with wonderful healing experiences.

Sometimes the smallest of creatures and what appear to be the tiniest of healings have the most powerful effect on our lives. I felt an immediate connection with the wren in the garden that day. The experience was truly amazing.

Since then, I have become more aware of our feathered friends and the gifts they share with us. Often, on nature walks, hikes in the mountains, or just working in my garden, I am made aware of the birds around me. They seem to know that I will listen to their songs and send them love and healing energy. They land close to my feet, or on a branch at eye level so that I will notice them. They fly by my ears and a few times have landed on my shoulders. Some birds will want me to follow them to show me the nests they have built. Others will show off with their singing and talents for a long time. They often look right into my eyes to connect and then go about their jobs. My husband and I had a large woodpecker accompany us one day on a walk through the forest. Every few feet he would land just ahead of us, chip away on dead wood, and show us the insects he found.

We watched him in delight for several minutes. He turned his head and looked into our eyes many times during his work. I always beam Reiki energy to the birds, and they seem to love to receive it. In turn, they lighten my energy with their playful flying, various sounds and songs.

The little wren experience was a turning point in my Reiki journey. It nudged me to continue my studies to take the Master levels and set up my own full-time Reiki practice. Linda was guided to begin her Level I and now has her Advanced Reiki Training. She has recently become a Master gardener, and she incorporates Reiki energy into all of her clients’ gardens. Several summers have passed, and the wrens continue to come back to both of our gardens. We are always reminded of that very special little wren. They not only grace us with their presence and song but also remind us of the healing power of Reiki even on the tiniest of God’s creatures. When we reminisce about the “Reiki Wren” we sigh and smile with thanks and gratitude.

Reiki Stories

Reiki Helps Slipped Disc
A young girl of the age of 24 yrs had suffered a slipped disc while dancing. She was not able to stand longer than 20 minutes or walk more than 5 minutes. I did not know her. However, her Uncle asked for Reiki on her behalf telling me her name and age. I send her distant Reiki and Reiki located her and performed a miracle and she was relieved of severe pain. Encouraged by our success, we asked her to come to our healing center and we gave her group Reiki. Today, after three consecutive sessions, she can walk more than 30 minute and also sleeps sound the whole night. We are so grateful for the power of Reiki and the great healing it provides. Gina Safx

Reiki Helps Heal Hip Injury
Sometimes life provides a strange turn of events that flips our world upside down: It was just the simple act of holiday shopping the Friday before Thanksgiving...pulling a 2 wheeled cart of goodies behind me toward the checkout line...getting the back of my shoe stuck under the cart...falling squarely on the lateral aspect of my hip, and landing full force on ceramic tile laid over slab concrete...the floor won.

Unable to move my right leg, I asked them to call 911. I knew I needed X-rays. I kept saying this can't be happening...after 3 challenging years of grad school and now I was just starting to build my acupuncture practice. I wanted to thrive! I knew there was a choice. I could sink into a funk over what life had tossed in my path or I could use my healing intention, giving myself Reiki in the store, ambulance and hospital.

I‘ve been a Reiki Master for 8 years and have experienced my ability to speed my healing after injuries such as sprains, a burn or bruise. In one example, I used it when I severely sprained my ankle. By using Reiki right when it happened, I eliminated any pain or swelling. Afterward, I was able to walk on it without pain. I could’ve thought I really hadn’t injured it, except about 4 months later, my rolfer (giving me a deep tissue massage) asked if I'd sprained that same ankle when he found fascia built up around it.

At the hospital, X-rays showed that I'd fractured the right femur neck. I was in surgery by 6 PM, with a prognosis of the repair being anywhere from screws to hip replacement followed by 3 months of rehab. There was a hip specialist on call; he put a few screws in my femur, leaving only a 1" scar.

They gave me an IV with morphine-on-demand; I only used it in recovery. After, the nurses and docs were quite concerned that I wasn't using it (don t be brave); I had to reassure them that the pain was at the level of a dull toothache. I was open and honest when I explained that I was using Reiki; some were impassive, and others were politely interested. I recovered so quickly that they discharged me after 2 nights (4 had been planned).

There s been no pain outside of tight muscles when I first stretched that hip/thigh out...and of course, I continue to use Reiki.

It’s two weeks from the date of my fall, everyone is amazed at my recovery. My PT has shown me how to use my cane on steps, with no restrictions other than taking it easy. Generally, I walk better without my cane than with it. It’s interesting that after surgery I was told to expect 1-2 weeks of inpatient rehab following my hospital stay.

In retrospect, I’ve learned that when Reiki is used at the time of injury, there’s less physical trauma, which leads to rapid healing. I don't have a bruise from my fall, or any swelling...there s no pain when I move from that hip, it just gets tired easily. Never, ever doubt the power of your healing intentions! Connie Filip

Reiki Dissolves Blood Clot
A few months ago I gave Reiki session to a lady from NYC who had a blood clot in her arm due to complications from a previous surgery treating a tumor. After one hour and 15 minutes of Reiki, she told me that the numbness in her arm went away and that she started to feel sensation again. Shortly after our session she was supposed to see her surgeon for a scheduled surgery and right before the Reiki session, he called reminding her of this appointment though she requested if she could just have this energy work with me before she goes to the hospital. About a couple of weeks later, she called me and told me the good news that when she went to see her surgeon and did a scan on her, he couldnt find any blood clot and decided not to do anymore surgery on her. Thanks to the Reiki healing energy for having had cured her. Jinggy B. Cigrand

Reiki Helps During Loss of Sister
I recently lost my sister in law. She was riding her bike and was hit by a drunk driver who fled the scene. She died later, in the hospital. It was determined almost immediately that her injuries were non-survivable. She was kept alive on life support in the hopes of donating her organs. It turned out not to be an option, due to her extensive internal injuries. For four hours friends and family sat with Nancy in Intensive Care.

I’ve always been aware of the healing power of Reiki, but this experience showed me once again just how power Reiki is.

Twenty of us sat around Nancy’s bed, in ICU, as she lay there with a respirator and other tubes. Her head was bandaged and bloodied from an unsuccessful surgery. We were all in a deep state of grief.

I gave Reiki to the hospital room, sending the power symbol and the mental emotional symbol to each corner of the room, ceiling and floor. I placed all of the Usui symbols in the center of the room as well as the Karuna symbols. I used the symbols to strengthen my light and placed the symbols around all of the people in the room, including my sister in law. I sat, with one hand on Nancy and one hand on my brother, who sat next to her bed.

Despite the tragic and devastating event, there was a palpable presence of love and light in the room. Everyone there touched and hugged one another, told each other how much they loved my sister in law and asked how they could help. No tension or drama existed. The hospital crew worked around us, 20 of us, in the small space, not once asking us to leave, but instead asking us what we needed.

Not known to me at the time one of my clients and a Level 2 student, who is a nurse and works at that hospital, was monitoring my sister in law from a remote location. She didn’t know who we were – she said she only knew it was a patient and family that she felt needed Reiki, so she sent distant Reiki to us.

After Nancy passed away and in the time leading up to her funeral I continued to send distant Reiki to family and friends. We all worked together as a team, despite our grief and sorrow, treating each other with love and kindness and respect. It was like we were all protected in this beautiful bubble of love. Again, no drama, no “me, me, me” which can sometimes be the case in my family.

The morning of the funeral I was able to give my brother a full Reiki treatment. It helped him tremendously, allowing him to release much of the grief, fear, sadness and other mental and emotional things he was dealing with. I too had a session and it gave me strength and a feeling of peace and acceptance. I sent distant Reiki to the funeral often, beforehand. The service turned out to be a beautiful affair.

I know that when we channel Reiki we too receive Reiki. I supposed on some level I have felt this, without really being aware of it, yet I’ve never experienced it so powerfully as I did in the days when I returned to work after the funeral.

I wasn’t sure I’d be able to work, but went in, thinking I’d do my best. I discovered an amazing thing. As sad and grief stricken as I was, once I began channeling Reiki I felt that same feeling of peace and acceptance. I also felt joy. Joy! It shouldn’t have, but it surprised me that I felt this, during such a difficult week. I had a lot of Reiki clients that following week, to make up for my days off and I feel that is what helped me get through those days. I’d come home and cry, feel the raw grief and pain and wonder how we’d all get through his. The next day I ‘d go to work, channel Reiki and feel better. It helped so much to be able to do this. It helped to keep me centered and to find my footing during that difficult time. It gave me a sense of peace I didn’t think was possible at the time. It kept me grounded so I could be of service to my brother and other family members.

Since this experience, I’ve continued to keep Reiki in my life. It’s been a powerful tool of self-discovery for me, changing my life in ways I never could have imagined. Once again, I discovered just how powerful it could be, healing myself and others, on so many different levels. Not only did the Reiki help to heal me, but my interaction with my clients did as well. So much love and healing passed between us; it went both ways. I am so grateful to have been able to experience Reiki in ways I hadn’t before. It continues to amaze me how it works on so many different levels, whether I am aware of it or not. New levels of awareness seem to open up daily. It is such a blessing.

As our family continues to move forward and heal, Reiki is there to assist us. I continue to give my brother treatments every other week and I get them as well. Nancy’s death has brought our family closer together. It’s brought out the kindness and love we all have for each other, but don’t always show. Life is short. It’s fragile. I’m so glad Reiki is there to help ease the path. Deb Karpek
