And as we walk about outdoors, our breath becomes mist making it even more obvious that moment-to-moment we depend on spirit to live. And at this time of year there are so many thoughts and feelings spinning around us and within. And certainly if we look, we’ll find wonder and joy and peace, mixed with plans and hopes, wishes and dreams. There are so many possibilities for each of us. Created above they come drifting down around us like snowflakes soft and gentle in the silence of the night. Each one unique, beautiful, real and yet present only a short while unless we allow ourselves to be inspired, to take action, to follow the mystery they present to us, the mystery of life. What is the dream Reiki has for us, what possibilities await us? Where will it lead us if we have the courage, the trust, the sense of adventure to follow along the path it’s ready to create? Within us resides deeper meaning, a more refined sense of expression, a more fulfilling life that longs to be born, yet waits patiently for the time when it’s recognized, nurtured and invited to come forth. As the days get longer and we move into the New Year, may your inner visions awaken and inspire you to live a life of ever-greater peace, love and happiness.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a very painful form of arthritis and has recently been added to the list of autoimmune diseases. Most doctors believe that FM and Chronic Fatigue Immunodeficiency Disease (CFIDS) are the same disease. However, not everyone with CFIDS has FM. When the immune system fails, a person becomes more susceptible to other illness. For example, my problems began with when I developed allergies and asthma; then bronchitis and pneumonia set in. A short while later, my liver began to fail because I contracted Hepatitis B and CMV (Cytomegalovirus) at the same time. Finally at this point, I found a doctor who correctly diagnosed me with FM. Previously, no one knew what was wrong with me. I was treated for depression and considered to be a hypochondriac—very frustrating. Unfortunately, this is what happens to most people with FM until they find the right doctor. For the past seven years, I have used Reiki for my FM pain relief. It is an amazing tool for me. After years of pain, my body cannot handle a regular massage or any kind of deep tissue work; it makes the pain worse. Reiki is perfect because it is gentle and feels good. During each treatment, I can feel the pain moving out. Reiki also helps me to sleep better; something that is made difficult by the unceasing pain of FM. With FM, the brain can not attain Level 4 sleep which is the deep sleep that rests and heals the body; consequently, this lack of regenerative sleep results in extreme day time fatigue. People with FM often have Migraines. I frequently have these headaches, sometimes compounded with the added pain from he degenerative discs in my neck. As if that was not enough, these migraines are often accompanied by the problems I suffer due to TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) a painful jaw disorder. Reiki is like a miracle worker for these issues. I apply an ice pack, do some Reiki, then rest. I continue to rotate this treatment and can rid myself of these symptoms in a morning or a day. The last time I suffered a pseudo-seizure was due to a traumatic experience; my reaction to the death of an eleven-year-old girl I knew, that was February 2004.. At the time, I was in a presentation with other practitioners. They immediately began giving me Reiki and successfully stopped the seizure. I rested for about a half-an-hour and was able to go out to lunch with them and eventually drive home. (Normally, after a seizure, I would not be able to drive for at least two weeks, due to a severe worsening of my vision.) I have not had a seizure since then. I really believe that Reiki is a phenomenal healing tool and people with FM and CFIDS should consider receiving Reiki training so they can at least work on themselves. I would love to see a Reiki FM group working on each other in Boulder. It would truly be uplifting and so beneficial to everyone’s body, mind and spirit. Back Issues Writers Guidelines Advertising Reiki and Coma I had taken Reiki one and two, had practiced on friends, and a few paying clients. However, no one taught me what to do in the Intensive Care Unit. When I arrived with my Chakra scarf around my neck I was really surprised that the nurses knew what I was going to do. I was amazed, and humbled at the respect that Reiki was given in this hospital. There I stood at the foot of my friend’s bed asking for guidance as to how to proceed. First I put white light into the room asked my guides to come in to assist and for guidance. I used the power symbol to set the tone in the room, the healing symbol to begin the process of healing my friend’s body where I was drawn and began to work on specific areas with Reiki energy. Her blood pressure, heart monitor and other measures were actually changing as I worked. I moved my hands in the direction of the stroke so that energy would move in her body where it had been paralyzed. For four days I went to the hospital and did the same process. I used the symbols, my guides and moved the energy as much as I was guided to do. On the fourth day I felt guided to use the distance symbol and ask if I could make contact with my friend in my mind. I felt that I was speaking with her mentally and asked Jessie, you’ve had a stroke, is it your time or can you come back? She responded, I don t know where I am, to which I replied again mentally, Jessie, listen to the sound of my voice and follow it and find your way back. It felt like she was in a maze and was finding her way through it to come back. The next thing I knew I opened my eyes and saw a fluttering of her eyes. I could hardly believe it. Later that day she came out of the coma. Joanne Aaronson Reiki Heals Asthma Troubled Youth and Reiki I was involved in a collision that totally destroyed my car. Both air bags deployed and all other safety devices. The car was a 2004 VW Beetle Convertible. Of course I always place Reiki in my car and on every window as I drive my car eight hours a day for my current position as a Community Educator with Covenant Hospice, Destin, Florida. The car spun around three times, missing three other cars, after the impact from a Ford Expedition. The traffic was very heavy at this intersection as people were traveling for the holiday. Following the accident, I was in a hospital emergency room for six and one-half hours. I had two friends who did Reiki the entire time. One did hands-on and one sent Reiki from a distance. The first x-rays said my sternum was broken. This is a very painful break as it takes a long time to heal and there’s not much to be done. The sternum protects the heart and lungs, and attaches the ribs so usually every breath or movement is painful. We needed to do a CT Scan of the heart and lungs because the sternum was fractured. It took another 4-5 hours to accomplish the CT Scan. Reiki was being done the entire time. The results of the CT Scan showed that it was not broken. However, when I showed the first x-ray to chiropractors and other physicians they all could see the fracture. I have all documentation with dictations of the tests, as well as the x-rays that I will use in the book I am writing. I am now two and one-half weeks out, and back to work, driving, only missed two days from work and the Thanksgiving holiday. Another co-worker broke her sternum in an auto accident about nine months ago. Was in bed for two weeks and had three months slow recovery. Thank you God, and I wish we could place Reiki practitioners in every ER in the country. Of course that would save money wouldn't it? Janny Adkins Reiki Heals Burns I was Healed As I Treated Another After twenty minutes I started to feel a very strange and strong tingling in my hand that seemed to be moving towards my elbow from many directions inside myself then a very strong feeling that my hand was white, very white. This went on for 10 minutes and then it was gone. The client felt as good as ‘ten horses’ (in her own words) and went happily home after we had a long talk. After she left I took the big bandage from my elbow and lo! there was nothing wrong with it. It actually looked like it would have after two months of healing! My mother and husband didn’t have one word and I, even today, have a hard time grasping it. I thank the divine and send love to you. All the world is a better place every day.
