Dear Reiki Friends, I have been Reiki for about 3 months now, and while practicing
at home, my little sister Mariah (age 7) became very interested.
I showed her a few hand positions and she now practices them
before bedtime. A common phrase from her now is "My hands
are so hot!". Not only is it touching to see somone so
young and innocent becoming involved with Reiki and healing,
she drew me a picture of what she sees "The Spirit Reiki"
as. She feels that whenever we do Reiki, I want to share this picture with as many people as possible, and I figured I should come to you. I hope it inspires us to re-connect with our innocent inner-children, and feel the love and beauty of the world all over again. Thank you,
This is an excerpt from an article in the spring edition of the Reiki News Magazine. A strong Reiki community where all Reiki schools are represented and working with mutual support for each other is a much better position for a positive effect on the local community and the world. A great need for Reiki exists in the world now, and the better we join together, the greater benefit we will be able to offer. Negative competition between some Reiki groups in the past surfaced and although it seems to be subsiding, I feet there is still a need to look at the issue. Some have said that their form of Reiki is the only valid form or that their group is the best Reiki group. They have used fear and misinformation to dissuade their students from associating with other Reiki people. Such attempts damage the Reiki community, tend to give Reiki a bad name, and adversely affect the healing available to those involved within the group. It also detracts from the strength and well being of the Reiki community and diminishes the help that can be provided to the community at large. I focus on the issue because I know it really needs to be dealt with. However, I am also aware of many areas where the problem has been solved or did not exist, and I want to acknowledge those Reiki people for being aware enough and secure enough to have created a vital, loving, cooperative Reiki community, A well organized Reiki community made up of many different
Reiki groups and schools working in harmony can do so much
more than working in isolation. The feelings that can come
from being part of such a group are absolutely wonderful. Help the People of Iraq by William Lee Rand With the invasion of Iraq coming to an end, it is time to think about the people of Iraq who have suffered through the invasion and the years of very difficult conditions under the rule of Saddam Hussein. The country belongs to the people and they will be the ones who will ultimately create the healing and rebuilding necessary to establish a new life. Many Iraqis are well educated but in recent times have not had a chance to make use of their skills and training. Now is a time for reorganization and rebuilding and it
is intended that this will go well. However, help of all
kinds is desperately needed. To help I suggest you start

Reiki Sea Salt Bath By Roland Hasler I am a psychologist-psychotherapist specialized in psychological dependency and live in Geneva, Switzerland. I have been working with a healing bath using the Reiki symbols. This bath is perfect to center yourself, especially when under stress or pressure from others or from situations. It only takes 15 minutes to bring peace and quietness within yourself. It works for anxiety, depression, panic attack and other psychological complaints including psychological dependency, such as: drug-dependency and affective dependency (co-dependency). Why does this Work? First take a quick shower without using soap. Then fill the bath tub with water. As the tub is filling, sit in the tub and add two kilos (4-5 lbs.) of sea salt (you must use the large grained sea salt and not the fine, it doesn't matter where it comes from, you can use the cheapest one as long it is sea salt!), sit in the bath tub until it is full (lukewarm water is fine). As the bath tub is filling, give yourself a light massage with the salty water all over the body and plunge your head under the water for a few seconds. When the bath is full stop the water and draw the Reiki symbols on top of the water as follows: You must draw the symbols on top of the water by lightly touching the water and for each symbol say the appropriate mantra (name of the symbol) three times: master, power, Iava (Karuna), Shanti (Karuna), emotional/mental. At the end, use the power symbol again. If you do not have the master or Karuna symbols, just use the symbols you know and it will work just fine. Then relax and enjoy the bath for about 15 minutes (give yourself more massage and put your head under the water a few more times). After 15 minutes, drain the water and take a shower without any soap, dry yourself and put on clean clothes. You can take this bath at any time of the day. Reiki Retreat Rock Hill, NY - Labor Day Weekend August 29-September 1, 2003 Come to our Reiki retreat! Last year we had 250 friendly and enthusiastic Reiki people who represented many of the various lineages and schools of Reiki from around the country including some students from other parts of the world. It's a great experience to be with so many healers and to exchange hugs, Reiki sessions and healing stories. Many lasting friendships formed. This year we are featuring Walter Lübeck, one of the most prolific Reiki authors and one of the world's best Reiki teachers. He will be presenting several mini-workshops including Rainbow Reiki crystal work, advanced aura/chakra healing, and a special trance drumming session. This last session will be really exciting as Walter is one of the most amazing drummers I have every met. Also included is Ulla Suokko a flautist who will provide several presentations including playing background music for our Reiki exchange sessions. She did this last year and we had 20 tables set up with over 120 people all giving and receiving Reiki together in one big room! Also William Rand will be presenting Japanese Reiki Techniques, Meet your Reiki guides, and Reiki for world peace. Michael Arthur Baird will be presenting Reiki drumming, and a guided meditation. Laurelle Shanti Gaia will be presenting a Reiki crystal and soul breathing mini-workshop and meditative journeys into the Reiki energy and symbols. We will also have a dance on Saturday night, and many other wonderful activities. Also, the camp has lots of hiking trails, a small lake with canoes and row boats, a big heated swimming pool and lots of other recreational possibilities.

Being able to give a professional Reiki talk is an important skill for the promotion of ones Reiki practice. The article Speaking Up About Reiki by Diane Shewmaker provides a very through description of everything you need to do to develop and present a Reiki talk. This is a well written article and will be very helpful to anyone wanting to speak about Reiki before a group. The attunement process is the heart of Reiki training and understanding its importance and how it works is necessary if we are to derive the greatest use of this wonderful gift. In The Attunement Experience, by Penelope Quest insight into the spiritual nature and energetic workings of the Reiki attunement process helps us appreciate this important and necessary experience. Harmony between all Reiki teachers and groups is needed if we are to effectively provide the healing the planet so desperately needs. Not only does this have value for the health of the Reiki community as a whole, but when one is in this state of mind and takes action to promote harmony between oneself and the other Reiki practitioners and teachers in ones area, ones own Reiki practice will improve as well! Harmony Between All Reiki Groups by William Lee Rand provides examples and outlines the steps one can take to help you work cooperatively with the other Reiki people in your area. Also included in this issue is a new movie review column, a story about helping others in India and our regular Reiki stories section. Back Issues Reiki Saves a Life Reiki Miracle with Cancer After grounding my client I could still physically see Christ standing at my client's head. He took longer than normal to 'come around' after the treatment and couldn't understand how I could be standing away from his body. He still felt like he was being touched/healed around his head and shoulders. About a week later I saw him. He had been receiving treatment for cancer and was told by his consultant that his 'healing' was not due to his hospital treatment. I truly believe we both experienced a miracle simply by surrendering to it. Theresa Monson Reiki Heals Dog For the first week, my partner, who is also a Reiki practitioner, and I gave Jackson 2-3 treatments on the affected joint and surrounding muscle tissue and ligaments, and we continued this routine for the next 4-6 weeks. Slowly, Jackson began to put more and more weight on his back leg, and after about 3 months had completely recovered. The vet, suffice it to say, was delighted. He also mentioned that in some rare cases with such an injury an animal can form a false joint, but he had never seen nor heard of it personally, until now! Justin Shaw Reiki and Childbirth Another time I was giving Reiki to a friend of mine who was seven and half months pregnant. I could feel the baby in my womb kicking all the time. I first thought I had hiccoughs but I understood very quickly that the baby was kicking in his mum's womb. At the end of the session, she confirmed he had been kicking all the time I was giving her Reiki. Roseline Bourt Clearing Negative Energies The waitress was yelling at the cook, the cook was yelling back, the cashier was arguing with another waitress, and so on. Every worker was in a terrible mood. My daughter turned to me and said, "Mom, why don't you use the Reiki symbols you just learned in class to clear out the negative energy in this place and maybe raise the vibration in here." I thought this was an excellent idea. I began to imagine the protection symbol to clear the negative energy surrounding each person there and then throughout the whole place. Next, I imagined the power symbol everywhere. I could literally see a shift taking place one person at a time. By the time we were finished with our lunch everyone working there was singing and dancing, and having fun with each other. My daughter and I walked out laughing and totally amazed. Her comment to me was, "If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I never would have believed it." What a wonderful tool to have. I never have to worry about going anywhere since Reiki came into my life.
