Time Release Reiki
My many thanks to Bonnie Bercume for her article on time release Reiki (In the March Online Newsletter). I always make a policy to try new ideas on myself before inflicting it on my clients and after waking early the morning with a splitting headache after I had read this article(nothing to do with the article - or was it?), I was guided to give it a go. Wow - fantastic. The headache cleared almost immediately. I had got up and prepared an aspirin, but my guides told me to leave it there it was not necessary. I kept feeling the Reiki when it was needed and managed to do not only my shopping, but to cope with my two young granddaughters on the afternoon. The aspirin remained for a couple of days until my husband finally threw it out. Well done Bonnie and thanks for sharing it with us all. Jennifer Parkin

Reiki and a Positive Mental Attitude, Part II

In this article I explain a simple technique that can transform your life! You will be surprised by the results following this simple exercise will produce for you. Not only will it improve how you feel about yourself and everything in your life, but it will also affect your attitude toward others as well as how people respond to you. You’ll feel happier, more up, lighter and more positive. It can even affect your physical body, taking away aches and pains and quickening the healing process. People will tend to have a more positive attitude toward you, will smile at you more frequently, have pleasant things to say to you and be more likely to agree with you and be supportive of you and your plans. In addition, “lucky” events will begin occurring for you more frequently that will often seem uncanny.
The mind is a powerful tool and if used wisely, can create a life of health, happiness and abundance, but if left to its own, usually creates mediocrity that can often slip into chaos and suffering.
It is what one does with one’s mind that determines what one is capable of accomplishing in life. As Edgar Cayce, the well known healer has said, “Mind is the Maker.” The mind is the most important resource we possess. In order to accomplish anything in life, we must take action and it is through the mind that we direct our actions. This includes directing our physical actions but the mind, often without our knowing also directs the subtle life energy that surrounds our actions. And it is how our minds affect our subtle life energies that have the greatest affect on the outcomes we produce. Our mental attitude sets the stage for our actions and affects all we do. When a positive mental attitude is combined with Reiki energy, truly amazing things can happen.
Affirmations
Affirmations are positive statements one says to one’s self in order to change ones state of mind and produce a positive result.
Cultivating a Positive Mental Attitude
Having a positive mental attitude as your foundation state is a key factor in being successful in life. Creating this foundation is like cultivating a garden by preparing the soil. With a positive mental foundation, anything you attempt to do will have a much greater likelihood of succeeding. Therefore, I suggest that you start your affirmation program with the following process. Please follow these steps now.
- Activate your Reiki either by thinking of Reiki and placing your hands on your legs or by first drawing any Reiki symbols you may have on your hands before placing them on your legs. The mental/emotional symbol is especially important for this exercise. Intend that Reiki will flow throughout the entire time you are doing this exercise.
- Feel the Reiki flowing and allow yourself to enter a calm, confident state of mind. Then state to yourself several times: “I am in a calm and confident state of mind.”
- Then repeat this affirmation to yourself: “I always maintain a positive mental attitude.” Repeat this affirmation over and over for 5 minutes or longer. You are likely to find that the combination of repeating this positive affirmation along with giving yourself Reiki energy is so enjoyable that you’ll want to keep repeating it for a longer period of time.
- As you repeat the affirmation, focus on the sound the words are making in your mind. As you do this you may find yourself repeating it more and more slowly and you may find your breathing starting to slow as well. If this begins to happen, allow it to do so. Or if not, simply continue to repeat the affirmation listening to the sound of the words.
- After doing this for 5 minutes or so, notice how your mental attitude changes.
- Repeat this process several times a day for three weeks. Then, based on your results, decided if you’d like to continue using it.
- If you have any aches or pains or negative feelings, focus your attention on them while you repeat the affirmation and give yourself Reiki. You’ll find them fading away.
- If an irritating or difficult situation arises in your life, take a moment to repeat this process, combining Reiki with the affirmation and focusing on the difficult situation. You’ll be amazed how quickly your state of mind changes.
Dealing With Specific Thoughts and Attitudes
As you cultivate a positive mental attitude, you will find your mind changing and shifting and reorganizing itself into a higher and more positive state. As this happens, it’s possible that thoughts will come welling up from within that oppose your new positive attitude. If this happens, simply continue with the above process and focus on the affirmation and the Reiki energy. Because you are using Reiki as you say your affirmation, the Reiki energy will deal with these negative thoughts and heal them. This will often involve a process of dissolving them at their source or reorganizing them in a healthy way.
This process will work with most negative thoughts and feelings that come up. However, as you continue the exercise after a few days or longer, it’s possible that you may encounter a negative thought or feeling that has more resistance to the healing process. One reason it may have more resistance is that in order to heal this particular negative thought or feeling, you many need to learn something important. If this is the case, follow these instructions:
- Note what the negative thought is, what’s it about, how does it feel, where does it come from. Get to know it.
- Ask to be shown what part of your energy field it is coming from. This could be a chakra, an area of the body, or a part of the aura.
- If you have 2 nd level Reiki, draw the power and the mental/emotional symbols on your hands. Then direct your hands toward the area the negative thought or feeling is originating from. If you don’t have 2 nd level Reiki, simply direct your level 1 Reiki hands toward the area. Allow Reiki to flow. Reiki can also be directed to the area by placing your hands on your legs or other convenient part of your body and simply thinking of the area.
- If you weren’t able to discover the area the negative thought or feeling is coming from, and you have 2 nd level Reiki, activate the distant symbol along with the power and mental/emotional symbols and ask that Reiki guide itself to the origin of the negative thought or feeling. The distant symbol will act as a homing device and send Reiki to the origin without you needing to know where it is. However as you do this you may become aware of the origin. If you don’t have 2 nd level Reiki and can’t locate the origin, simply continue without knowing the origin and the process will still work.
- As Reiki is flowing, ask if there is a lesson to be learned from the issue or energy surrounding the negative thought or feeling. Think about any ideas that come into your mind and look for the lesson. Then allow it to be absorbed and accepted. The lesson could involve forgiving yourself or another, or changing a behavior or habit or something similar.
- As you do this, and continue to channel Reiki energy, the negative thought will be dissolved, disempowered and released.
- If this doesn’t happen easily, then think of the meaning of the negative thought or feeling and formulate an affirmation that embodies the opposite meaning in a positive statement. As an example, if the negative thought says “I do not deserve to be happy,” reverse this in an affirmation that states, “I deserve to be happy.”
- Repeat the new positive affirmation over and over while directing Reiki to the issue.
- If additional thoughts or feelings come up, steadily focus on your positive affirmation repeating it with conviction as you give yourself Reiki.
- As you continue repeating your positive affirmation, the negative thoughts and feelings will begin to lose their strength and will dissipate.
This is a simple exercise that takes very little time and can be done just about anywhere. The payback from this exercise can be tremendous so I suggest you decide to do it and to begin right now!.

Reiki of the Universe

Does Reiki have a connection to the Universe? When we think of the vastness of the Universe--the seemingly unlimited number of stars and galaxies and worlds, the creative processes taking place, the tremendous distances, the billions of years it has existed, and the unknown mysteries it must contain--we are awestruck. The wonder of the Universe goes far beyond our ability to comprehend.
And yet, when we contemplate the wonder of ourselves and the fact that the Universe is mirrored in our own minds, there is a feeling that the Universe exists within us as well.
When we think of the creative power that manifested the Universe and all of life, which in turn has lead to our own existence, we can begin to appreciate how completely we are a part of the Universe and all of its forces, both known and unknown.
In the Reiki Ryoho Hikkei (Dr. Usui's Reiki handbook), Dr. Usui states: ". . . Reiki Ryoho is an original therapy which is built upon the spiritual power of the Universe." We can ask, what is the spiritual power of the Universe that he is speaking of, and what allows us to have access to it? In what way are we connected to this power?
We Are Star Dust
We know from astrophysics that the elements that are used to create our physical bodies were formed in stars. The elements up to iron were formed inside stars, and those more complex than iron were formed within the intense heat and pressure that occurred when the star exploded. The flash of light created by such an explosion, called a supernova, was so great that it shown brighter than the star's entire galaxy. At the same time, all the star's elements were blown into interstellar space. There they drifted for billions of years, and finally some of them formed the planet we call earth. Later, some of these same elements came together to form the physical body that you are dwelling within right now! Think about this. The elements that make up the bones, tissues, and blood of your body had their origin in an exploding star! Take a moment to look at your hands and think about your body and contemplate your connection to the Universe. . . . .
. . . . . . . In the same way that all the elements of life were created in an exploding star and streamed out into the Universe to create life, so too does the spiritual energy of the Universe come streaming out of our hands when we give Reiki, and it too contains all the elements of life. The Universe resides within us, and we bring forth its potential and help it move more quickly toward its goal when we allow Reiki to flow through us. As Reiki practitioners, we are helping the Universe fulfill its purpose.

Looking Back and Moving Forward with Reiki

I recently took a few days to reflect on the events of 2007 as well as how my life was before and has been after Reiki. Have you also had thoughts like that or found yourself saying, “Before Reiki I was…, and after Reiki I am…?”
Before Reiki I thought the world was harsh and hard to live in. I had decided it was not safe to show emotions, certainly that love would hurt, and the people in your life would never be there for you. I lived life closed, depressed and isolated. I was an outsider looking in at life and watching other people. I knew it was not safe to participate in life because you could not trust anyone…after all with my track record my mind was firmly made up.
I had few close friends in school and spent much of my time in my room painting or writing in my journal. By the time I was 37 I had two failed marriages and had spent enough time spent in the hospital with various illnesses to know things just did not come easy and that I did not deserve any better. I was told by my doctors that by the time I was forty, I would be totally paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
In 1980, I participated in a Reiki course and started to give myself Reiki. The paralysis in my body disappeared, but most importantly, I felt that I had touched my soul and awakened from a long sleep. I experienced a return to harmony on all levels and a deep peace.
Continuing to use Reiki as a means for inner harmony, I began taking self-development courses to heal my past. This helped me to forgive and move on. Reiki was my constant companion through that period. It still is. Since that first day with Reiki so many opportunities have been given to me, chances to say yes instead of no to life. Life has not always been rosy and all my problems did not cease to exist after Reiki. In fact it seems at some level that the heat was turned up. Reiki continues to help bring things up to heal physically and emotionally. I have been challenged to live my life in the present moment, to be true to myself, honest, and fearless. Fear-less meaning that I have come to realize that what I fear most I bring to myself. Reiki helped me change my belief structure. Feeling the way I did before Reiki became uncomfortable. Fearing shut down my energy; Faith, which is the opposite, opens me up, frees the soul and fans the flame of love in my heart.
Reiki was the beginning of my spiritual journey. There was a time when I thought I had taken that first class only to learn some Reiki techniques that might help heal me, but what actually happened was that Reiki supported me on my return to wholeness of body, mind and spirit. Every step I take with Reiki confirms the truth of this. It is a never-ending process of discovering myself, and indeed, a spiritual journey unlike anything I could ever have imagined. I have heard Grace defined as the outward expression of the inward harmony of the soul. At times I did not even realize that parts of me were not balanced until they were harmonized and I felt different… certainly more alive and filled with grace.
I know without a doubt that if I had not taken that first step with Reiki my life would be very different today. I see parallel lives: on one side “without Reiki” there is a lonely woman in a wheelchair all dried up with no life in her; on the other, “with Reiki”…me as I am. And the two are vastly different. Before Reiki, I would never have quit my job and flown to Europe, much less found myself teaching with the passion of an awakened heart in the UK and throughout Europe. I had been lit from the inside. I now cared not only for myself, I but could see how connected I was to others and how interconnected we all are. I saw and experienced a bigger picture that was beautiful. . . . . .

Stopped Smoking
I saw a friend at a party who had smoked cigarettes for 30 years. She was trying to quit, but the pills she was taking to help her were giving her a headache and she was about to leave the party. I felt sorry for her and asked her if she would like to try Reiki. She said she will try anything.
We arranged to get together and give her a Reiki session and she said she had stopped taking the pills. Another friend, Devaki helped me with the session. I did Aura Clearing and then Devaki and I gave Denise hands on Reiki. After the session, I started distance Reiki and kept contact with Denise. After this, she stopped smoking cigarettes.
It has now been four months and Denise hasn’t smoked a cigarette. She is so thrilled and tells everyone about Reiki. Actually she is taking Reiki One now.

Wounded Deer Healed
My husband and I relocated to northeast PA from Manhattan. We have many deer whom we feed during the harsh winters. Last year, Fred, a beautiful regal buck came to us with a wound which we thought would certainly end his life. He had a 16" gash on the top of his back leaving his spine exposed. He had swelling on one side under his skin, the size of a melon.....I was heartbroken.... I did Reiki and prayed to Jesus as I am very blessed to have Jesus as my Reiki guide. By the Grace of God and Reiki my Fred healed beautifully. You would never know by looking at him now that he had such an injury. The only remnant of his wound is a 4" line of fur going in a different direction..... I am eternally grateful to Jesus and Reiki for the healing of Fred. Jean Potter
Pinkeye Healed
I work as a massage therapist in a Physical Therapy clinic. I am also a Reiki Master and use Reiki during my massages. One day the PT came into the office wearing dark glasses. At first we were teasing her that she went Hollywood on us but she revealed that she had contracted pinkeye from one of her patients. She reported that her eyes were inflamed, watery, red and itchy, and very uncomfortable and she planned on seeing the doctor for some eye drops after work. Pinkeye is highly contagious so I did not want to touch her directly. So I had her sit facing me on a chair about 10 feet apart and held my hands up and let the Reiki flow directly into her eyes. First I told her I would take away the watery feeling in her eyes. Soon my eyes began to water as it released from her (I'm an empathic healer), then I told her I would get rid of the itchiness. She soon reported that her eyes were not itchy anymore. Then after that I told her I would remove the redness. She said she could feel it leaving her eyes. After about 10 minutes, she reported a vast improvement. She took off her dark glasses and revealed that one eye was completely clear of infection and the other one had only some redness left; certainly better than when she came into the clinic. The next day she reported to me that the pinkeye was gone and she did not need to go to the doctor for eye drops. Needless to say we were both delighted with the results.
